Yeah i agree. Its crazy how a video game can make a song pretty good as well. Like i never noticed the Vergil's boss fight theme was played on the first mission when your fighting inside that room with all of the gears but i noticed how cool the song was when i fought Vergil. So now every time i listen to the song i see Dante and Vergil walking staring each other down getting ready for combat. Also with games like Asuras Wrath. Augus's fight theme wasn't anything crazy by its self but when their actually fighting it makes the song a thousand times better.Same. Both bands aren't in genres I usually listen to, but man, this is an example of how to do a video game soundtrack. The music enhances the gameplay, and the gameplay enhances the music. It really is a master class in sound design, the only other person I can think of who nails video game music is Jesper Kyd. I swear every time there is a sequence in a game where the right musical cue plays that just makes it 1000 times I better, its usually because its a track from Jesper kyd.
I mean this song from Darksiders 2, makes the first boss battle go from mediocre to something special and memorable. That's how you do video game music, it really is an art like doing an excellent film score.

I can agree with this, my own example is when I played MadWorld and Anarchy Reigns and for some reason I really dig the music in those games, even though I normally don't like rap at all.100% agree. Another great example is the song countdown in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, the song that plays the first time you infiltrate the castle to spy on Cesare.
This song made you feel like an assassin' even when the game didn't.
The point is, you people are sort of deliberately doing this and it's gone on long enough for people to think otherwise. Hell, it's been going on so long that you think wording it in a passive aggressive manner somehow makes people perceive it better but that's not the case if it is consistently kept up. This is how it usually goes down:So what? I'm not allowed to give my opinion about something? Don't you think things gets a little boring if everyone just agrees on the same thing? This is a forum after all.
And jesus man, you sure like to assume. I have posted before about stuff that I like in DmC. I don't outright hate the game but I just find it lacking compared to DMC3 in certain aspects.
And those examples you just wrote are quite awful.
Oh look, hypocrisy in its finest. The point is, you people are sort of deliberately doing this and it's gone on long enough for people to think otherwise. Hell, it's been going on so long that you think wording it in a passive aggressive manner somehow makes people perceive it better but that's not the case if it is consistently kept up. This is how it usually goes down:
-Somebody expresses their opinion and praises DmC
-One of the people who hate it bust in feeling the need to diss that person's opinion but usually word it in a way where it translates to basically "I'm going to push my purist opinions I think are correct but say people shouldn't get upset with me because I clarify it's my opinion"
-Someone spikes up a defense to your opinion
-Suddenly that person who spiked up a defense is suddenly not respecting your opinion and is in the wrong for simply having a counter argument.
Respect is earned and not given. When you have forum topics like this that is specifically not asking for any negative comments and the sole purpose is to just talk about what you like about DmC's soundtrack then did it occur to you that when you deliberately dissed the soundtrack maybe you should have no come in to express your opinion in the first place? Like a topic like this literally has no room for that because you obviously don't have anything to add to the subject matter. Simply, that kind of opinion isn't wanted or needed here.
The fanbase acts like NT and Capcom ran over their dog and raped their parents or something so we kind of get by now that you people just hate DmC. I don't care if you do but pushing your opinions down people's throats is not helping anything. Especially if it's done so consistently. Doesn't matter if you are not wording it in a bad way, you know you're leaving an opinion that is not wanted and will most likely have someone try and prove your wrong or tell you different. Yea, you can't do that and expect people to respect your opinion if you're not respecting theirs. You may think you're not doing that but, when you just do it over and over again then you are.
Note: I'm not attacking anyone directly but basically putting in general how the thing goes down.
Combichrist has got some decent tunes. I'm not all about the dubstep on Noisia's end but Combichrist's aggrotech stuff is alright. The song I liked the most on the soundtrack though was Throat Full Of Glass. It sort of had a NIN thing going on.
I can't say I really cared for the music. I liked some of the more metal like songs but I have never been a fan of dubstep at all.
Multibro, I thought this was done, and we could focus on the initial theme of this thread. But I guess that would have been too simple and easy. So, I'm going to try to explain why your statement was met with hostility by me vs what you believe was a similar statement by chancey.
Bullshit, now you are making stuff up."I can't say I really cared for the music. I liked some of the more metal like songs but I have never been a fan of dubstep at all.
Hell, I don't even know which band plays which songs in DmC."
This would have been okay were it not for your second line that I bolded, that is what made your post go from harmless opinion to passive aggressive trolling. That line is the difference. It literally means that you thought the music was so generic and forgettable that you can't even be bothered to figure out who did the metaly tracks you sorta tolerated and who did the dubstep that you can't stand.
That line with the baggage that your name carries to some people like me is what made me respond the way I did. I hope you don't take this the wrong way. It's me being as honest as possible about why you got the reaction you did.
So I'm not allowed to defend myself despite you and chancey claiming things that isn't true?
Bullshit, now you are making stuff up.
I haven't heard about Noisia nor Combichrists until DmC. While I liked the songs that is apparently from Combichrists, it didn't motivate me enough to check out who they were. Where did I say that I thought it was "generic" or "forgettable".
Stop assuming things.
That's how YOU choose to read my post because you choose to treat me as "just another hater". And again, since when does "it didn't catch my interest" all of sudden mean "it's generic and forgettable"?I'm trying to tell you HOW your words are interpreted because of the reputation you have for fans like me. It was me being honest, and again you're further strengthening my argument by pointing out that you didn't care enough to even learn the band names or what type of music they were responsible for: IF this was the case, why did you post in a thread specifically asking people which band they preferred, and pretty much dismissed all of the music as forgettable. I give up. I don't even know why I bothered trying.
You guys just love playing victim.
Oh that's cute, you think I'm trolling. Yet it was you who had to reply to when you could have just ignored my post.Congrats, for derailing another thread. Keep feigning ignorance. You didn't have to post in this thread if you didn't even care about the bands being discussed. It was not a GENERAL MUSIC thread about DMC. I hope you're happy with another successful destruction of a harmless thread. I bow in awe of your trolling skills.

Look dude, to be fair? He only came in and stated his opinion just like anybody would do for anything else and you then suddenly you say he was bringing in another "Oh gosh darn i sure do hate this game and everything about it" post when all he essentially said was "Most of it wasn't to my taste" which implies that some of the music was liked by him, that's not a hate post, that's a "I actually kinda liked some of the music in this game, just not all of it" post.
The mere fact that you jumped on him for this point alone proves you're the troll here, please remove the fanboy stick you have rammed up your ass for a second and actually read before you call somebody out on bullshit that isn't even there. Just... tone it down with the over defensiveness will you?
Now, i'm going to reveal my opinion on the music just like the OP has requested and if you could refrain from being an asshole about it that would be great m'kay?
I was fairly okay with the music in the game, certainly not to my own personal taste but then i can see why people would enjoy it. If i ever did choose to, y'know, replay it for whatever reason, i would probably put together a playlist of music i find more appealing like say:
But that's mostly because i love taking any excuse to remind me of F-Zero GX.
Difficult decision indeed!
On one hand we have Noisia delivering a lovely score accompanying the story, with every high and low emphasised, as well as a brilliant set of themes for menu navigating.
But, on the other we have Combichrist assaulting our ears with a beautiful barrage of combat themes, making even the most minor of encounters that bit more epic. Offering 2 or 3 different songs per level.
So, what do we think?
Its a poll between the two bands, I don't see a third choice neither, and before you came along to defend your buddy I had tried several times to explain to him why he elicited the reaction that he did. That was an effort on my part to come to a reasonable understanding. But obviously, reading comprehension, and critical thinking are skills that both you and him lack..
