Kat , New Character Or Rebooted Lady ?!

I was watching one of Tameem's Interviews and when he was asked if we will see returning characters he said "no Comment" and smiled

so i said to myself " i take that as a yes and wait for them to show us more at E3 " then i thought what if they already showed us one of them ?! * I'm looking at you Kat *

and when i looked harder at the info that they released about Kat i found a few similarities to Lady !!!

1. Kat run away from her home at early ages and joined The Order to fight demons , Lady run from Her home at early ages too !!! after Arkham killed her mother lady went after Him and became a Devil hunter ( fighting demons )

2. their clothes are sort of similar , Lady wear a school skirt in DMC3 and in DMC4 she wears a short jean , and Kat wears some sort of short jean as well

3. they both carry heavy metals on their backs , Lady carry a rocket launcher Named "Kalina Ann" , i don't know what is it exactly that Kat carries on her back but it's definitely not a weapon

4. Kat is a human who knows about demons and wants to stop them , and Lady is the only Human devil hunter in the original series ( I'm talking about the games not Novels and Manga )

5. Kat is the eyes and Ears of the order and knows a great deal about demons , Lady is sort of eyes and ears of Dante's Shop "Devil May Cry" and knows many thing about demons

6. they both have a similar Necklace

but there are two differences between Kat and Lady

1. Kat is a psychic and only can see demons , but Lady is a Normal human that can kill demons easily

2. Lady has mismatched eyes One is Blue and the other is Red , but Both of Kat's eyes are Blue

*i know there are more differences like Tattoos but those can be just Design choices like differences between New and Original Dante*

so what do you think guys ?! do you think Kat is rebooted Lady or just a new Character ?!

Personally i want her to be a new Character cause she is not as beautiful as Lady should be , to me Lady is the most beautiful Woman in DMC and i hope that NT keep that aspect intact

- I actually managed to misspell the "Character" in the poll Option :blink: it would be great if one of the mods could fix that , Thanks

I agree XD :)

But I think we don't have enough information to assume that there is any connexion between Kat and Lady... maybe trying to spot physical similarities is also pointless: if new Dante doesn't look like old Dante at all then why would a rebooted Lady look like the original one? One may also argue that there has been a shift in Dante's personality with the reboot...so if they don't keep the look and don't keep the personality either, it becomes really hard to point out the potential origin of a character in the original series...

I've "lived with" Lady throughout DMC3, DMC4 and the anime but I don't know Kat, no one can really know her yet since the game isn't even out... I voted knew character all the same just because I want them to stop rebooting people that are already somehow at their best and to create new ones instead :) Lady rules, accept her as she is! xD

(and yes, the image is visible I don't think you need to upload it somewhere else)

i know that they can be different but Dante isn't that much different than his old self , he is still son of Sparda , he has two guns called Ebony & Ivory , he is still kinda carefree , he has a sword called rebellion and etc.

so it is possible that Rebooted Lady have similarities to original one , Like wearing same necklace , having similar clothes , being human and trying to stop demons , having so much Info on demons and etc.

as i said before i hope that Kat is a new character but she and Lady have many similarities that shouldn't be ignored easily ( Even their backstory is kinda similar )

but i agree that we have to see more of Kat and then compare her to Lady but i don't know why every time i look at her i see a bit of Lady , i just hope we could see her without hoodie

if she was a rebooted version of Lady she would be called Lady or Mary (her actual name.) there is no point in rebooting a character to the point of making them unrecognizable and then changing their name. a rebooted version of a character has the same name, a similar personality and same basic abilities but looks and acts a bit different and tends to have a different origin.

Lady and Kat have a vaguely similar appearance and some very minor similarities. that not enough to be really thought of as even being similar character's. so, they are definitely not the same person.

it's hard to tell with just one rebooted character shown so far but Ninja Theory's way of rebooting characters seems to be large changes in appearance and origin but only small changes to personality. so Lady will probably look completely different but have the same basic personality as she did in DMC3.(and she will probably have a smaller more realistic version of Kalina Ann)

you actually got a point with the name , but we know that Kat ran away from her home , so maybe Kat is not her real name !

i think we have to wait till E3 for more info on Kat but thous far she reminds me of Lady and have like 6 similarities in appearance and back story with her

I can't even image Dante (old) uttering that sentence, maybe I just don't get his personality but I think it has dramatically changed with the reboot, the changes in terms of personality are just as significant as the visual changes.

that sentence show's that DmC Dante thinks of his mother the way DMC Dante thinks of his father. absolutely no interest whatsoever. it is implied that DMC Dante knew his mother but not his father so he cares about his mother but has no interest in his father. from what Ninja Theory has said it seems like DmC Dante did not know ether of his parents so he doesn't care about his mother or his father. if you take into account the changes in backstory that sentence fits Dante perfectly.

I appreciate your accurate analysis :) but I was pointing out the way it doesn't fit original Dante's personality, not his background. Saying those words he allows people to call him a son of a bitch and even sounds a little proud of it, as if he was endowed with a vicious nature while original Dante was morally good, even if he sometimes hid under a disguise as was the case in DMC2 "mmm...am I gonna help you? wait a minute I'll drop my coin and it'll decide what's gonna happen next" (and both faces of the coin were the same so he had deliberately decided to help the person but didn't want to show it...)
 
I thinks its a new character as the circumstantial evidence that points her to being a lady reboot is circumstantial as those things could point to her being a reboot of lady,patty,kyrie, or beryl.

Small changes in personality? Need I remind you of the piece of crap they shoved down our throats, called the TGS 2010 trailer

EDIT: OOPS accidentally voted rebooted lady when I meant to vote new character

Kat and Lady are too different from one another, so I think Kat is a whole new character. There are clear indications that new Dante is based on the original Dante, like the name, attitude, design and of course his gameplay. Besides the dark hair, Kat and Lady have nothing in common.
 
i dont think its lady for these reasons

  1. different names, Lady was Mary. why reboot a character if youre gonna give them a different name?
  2. concepts are different. Lady had a giant bazooka and guns to kill demons in every way she can. Kat is a psychic working for the order and helps dante by relaying info to him
  3. different mindsets; Lady hated all forms of demons and was obsessed with killing every last one. Kat isnt. she lacks the anger lady had in DMC3
