I just have to say to the devs of this game:

When I thought of this game being a prequel, I immediately thought "oh god please don't let it be before dmc 3" which is sad because I like the original series but I just can't take anymore beating of this dead horse. So when I heard of it being an alt. universe, and a reboot, I immediately rejoiced. I'm ready for something new.

From the moment I saw it I knew something was up. They changed things around, but I never once believed that it was supposed to be part of the established canon - no retconning is done to this degree. I think the biggest concern was that saying "reboot" also meant "retcon," which isn't true at all >.<
