I just have to say to the devs of this game:

You really should tweet Tameem, lol.

At least, your message has a good chance to be read by them, though I'm sure that Tameem also should read devilmaycry.org. I hope he doesn't waste his time with gamefaqs...

He should. It's about time he recognize my importance.

Gamefaqs is just full of trolls right now. So i just tend to stay away from it the best i can. I can understand that people have their own pros and cons for this game and every other game, but to take it to an extreme where everything on a board is nothing but topics full of hate....thats going a bit far. Really if they hate it so much why not ignore it completely instead of attracting attention to this gme like a celebrity break up or something.

That how anti communities work.

They band together and wish the worse for a franchise or some other thing only because they can't accept change. However it's one thing to not accept changes and another to act like a child.

GameFAQs is just a very negative message board. I've had a GameFAQs account back when Devil May Cry 3 was being still be advertised. It's very easy to see why it holds such a negative reputation. The site has literally millions of message boards; few mods and not much if any rules when it comes to trolling. GameFAQs is where someone who gets banned from another message board for bad behavior can go and thrive.

Don't take my word for it. Do a Google Search for GameFAQs. Here, let me get you started:
"h*ll in the Internet form"

"A message board on the internet that has been destroyed by ignorant people, who call other people ignorant trolls."

Though, what they first showed for the game was horrendous.

They made a lot of effort to tweak it and make it better. I respect that and it allowed me to get into "their" version of Devil may Cry.

I wouldn't have gave them a chance when Dante looked like a gay zombie cursing against everything. They showed it was deeper than that, and gave him his true face back, which is all that matters. Also, they pretty much had won me over when Vergil made his appearance.

Now it's preordered.
it was what in the tv industry a "Censor Buffer" in the sense that if you want to get something passed through, you put it way beyond what you actually want so that what you want will go through with minimal problems like with the Title page for the episode of adventure time: "The_Enchiridion!" what they originally proposed was very gory, but what they wanted was just this:
4534952905

so it would seem like it was compromise, but not really. Even though in the end this didn't work for adventure time since they had to switch the dagger with a bageet.but the same principle applies to this games reveal it was, people had such a bad reaction to it initial trailer which was completely planned and hoped for on their part. imagine if all this was released as the initial release trailer, same reaction.

I think that some people try to act like "true fans" of dmc when they end up looking like aholes instead. I mean really, i stood in a line of 6 people for the release of dmc 3 and have played hours upon hours of all 4 dmc games. The way some people act would make you think i am inclined to be ****ed off about this game. Im not, i welcome it. Of course, potato/potahtoh etc. But really there is no reason to flip &*#@ over a video game, no matter what game it is. Trolls be trolls and so on, let them miss out on this awesome game that they obviously wont be buying at all.

He's a bit full of himself to be fair, being that the original design in the first teasrer for new Dante was practically Tameem at 19. He also did complain that fans were not happy with the portrayal of Dante in the reboot's teaser, saying that Classic Dante was "not cool" and that we didn't know what we really wanted. He's gotten better, but I still sense he's got some resentment of the fanbase for how much they ended up changing from what they wanted as a result of the initial backlash.

You're a bit wrong.

Dante was not based on Tameem at all, and the only real comparison between the two was their hairstyle, a mohawk, which is extremely common in punk movements, which Dante was based off of for this game. He's even gone on record about how he had nothing to do with Dante's design.

Him talking about fans not being happy is a bit applicable, considering how badly people jumped the gun knowing so very little about the game from a 90 second trailer. People made broad assumptions about QTEs, dial-a-combo gameplay, and bitched about Dante's haircolor - even though you can clearly see the patch of white in his hair, heavily hinting at some sort of purpose to it. Saying classic Dante isn't cool is a tired old complaint, but it's true, because for the contemporary world NT was making, the classic Dante wouldn't fit, plus the whole "what was cool back then isn't cool now." Seriously, look back on 2001 and think about what was popular then, and it certainly isn;t the case now.

And there really wasn't much change between the 2010 announcement and now. The only clear difference was that Dante no longer smokes. Everything else is still there.

Actually, NT previously admitted that they based character design on their own staff, including Nariko from Heavenly Sword and, yes, DmC Dante., the original design was a dead ringer for young Tameem, he of course would deny it once people complained about it. Keep in mind, they have also flip flopped on the Union Jack on his coat, first saying it was a homage easter egg to their UK offices, and then claiming it had nothing to do with that and was instead a 70s Punk Movement reference. Also, NT admitted they expected huge backlash from their revisions to Dante, and then still acted surprised at the massive change, especially when so many fans stated they still wanted the classic Dante.

And actually, a lot has changed in the character. his facial design was entirely revised to resemble more the actor, they removed the white streak in his hair, changed the coat, and actually filled him out more and teh teaser Dante was very malnurished and gaunt. A number of interviews also noted that they were revising his character to more resemble eeh classic in personality, originally he was more sadistic as seen in the teaser. Plus they also keep insisting that this was a Prequel, not a reboot/AU, while Capcom made it clear this was not the same DMC universe as classic.

Every creation has a reference to build off of. Of course they made Dante to look like someone in particular at first then went on to change the way he looks. Take Silent Hill, it is a collection of ideals taken from many different sources and one of those sources is Jacob's Ladder. Does that mean that Silent Hill should be negatively criticized that it was partially built on the idea of something that already existed? no. It shouldn't be. The original Dante's design was heavily based on probably dozens of different male anime characters and styles from the genre. No one criticized his design as harshly as this. So question to you is, why does it matter who dante's design was built off of? Many games do this very same thing with very little backlash.

So there you have it. Changes happen all the time. Does this mean that Tameem is self-righteous or full of himself? not in the least. It is up to the developers themselves who they base their own creations off of and go from there. It's called an original concept. Like the original mutant that got cut out of Prometheus. Or what Chris Redfield looked like before he used roids in the teaser trailer of Re5. Or what Dante looked like in the original teaser trailer for Devil May Cry 4. oh the memories of that good old emo faced Dante that never was (he looks that way to me anyways or girly to say the least)

should I go on?

I'm gonna call bullshit on modeling DmC dante on anyone, because I haven't heard anything about that. It also makes no sense when the 2010 was mostly a placeholder until they got the actor to play him. Dom talking about how the Union Jack isn't an homage to their UK heritage and is instead is a reference to the punk movement could be him not knowing why, or it could really be both. And expecting a huge backlash is one thing, but to be surprised enough that people send death threats and decry a game for its 90 second trailer should be incredibly surprising to anyone - I bring you to Alex Jones mentioning how he was surprised to see a lengthy thread complaining about Dante's hair not being white, when there was clearly a white patch of hair on his head the whole time.

The change in the character model was referenced as to how the 2010 design was to resemble his actor, but it has nothing to do with compliance to fan demands. The white streak wasn't removed either, we were just shown parts of his design during points in the game when he doesn't have it. Take a look at the Nightclub and Overturn gameplay and you'll see that white patch has returned, it was never taken out or put back in, the plan for its appearance in the game was always there. The coat didn't really change all that much either, other than slightly in length, and the addition of the hood. Dante himself wasn't all that "malnourished" as an adult, people are mixing up his childhood abuse flashbacks up with the fit slim build he had while he was beating down demons in the rest of the trailer. Dante is still pretty slim, and people probably only think he's muscular now is because they keep showing him off in his birthday suit.

It was called a prequel and a rebirth and a reboot all at the same time, but "prequel" still makes sense because this is Dante before he ever had the thought of starting the Devil May Cry hunter business. It's a story of origins, about what brought him to do many of the things he set out to in the classic series, but also tackles it from a different perspective, in a different universe.

When I thought of this game being a prequel, I immediately thought "oh god please don't let it be before dmc 3" which is sad because I like the original series but I just can't take anymore beating of this dead horse. So when I heard of it being an alt. universe, and a reboot, I immediately rejoiced. I'm ready for something new.
