How do people feel about the controls?

I thought you had to be in either mode to switch weapons? If what you say is this case then they should just have a single weapon switch button just to make things easier.

Cycling through a class of demon & angel weapons that are used seperately that wouldn't work but I do agree being in a mode to switch the weapons based on those modes seem easier but when you put in into execution the current weapon switch method works better.

DmC's controls seem to fit its gameplay. It could be improved but that is what sequels are for.

Good point. Sequels wouldn't be fun if there weren't improvements.

It's really no different than what I said if you think about it. You still have to go to those modes to use the weapons.

It would be cool if they got rid of the modes so that I can have two less buttons to worry about.

Plus sure Bayonetta doesn't style switch but she doesn't have any of the moves of Dante's styles...she can't block, dash, air dash, teleport, and she only has 1 gun action. Her moveset is basically a fusion of SwordMaster & Gunslinger.

Not to gang up on you or anything, but she can seriously do a good bit of what Dante can and more.
Examples
  • She has two moves that resemble Vergil's Spiral Swords and Sword Storm (the swords spinning around or flying toward a target)
  • She has at least one teleport move
  • She definitely has a block and a dash-like move
  • Her dodge is incredibly useful both in the air and on the ground for cancelling and traversal
  • Witch time is basically a prettier version of Quicksilver style. If I'm not mistaken, certain upgrades allow her to use it without dodging first.
  • She doesn't have Doppelgänger, but she has an attack where two or three of her shadows attack with a slight lag, much like Zero in Marvel vs. Capcom.
Actually this video pretty faithfully shows off everything she can do.
It's like Devil May Cry 3 gameplay, except more freedom in the air and a lot more versatile.

No its not in this case...you have 2 dodge buttons with this control scheme if you change it to another button or alter it you'll still have 2 dodge buttons and how is that a good thing.
And how is it not? I know of several games where they don't have a use for half the buttons. At least here they've given you more options for how to dodge by giving you two buttons. You don't have to use both, but the second is still available.

Its not that...the extra dodge button could've been used for another function....but hey that is what a sequel is for.

Yeah, if they make a sequel that's something they might change. Just as long as they make improvements instead of going in reverse.

But I like how they put an emphasis on dodging.
You know...I find it really strange when Agni & Rudra comes dropping down on you and most players (including me) dodge it by jumping UPWARDS.

lol. I've done something similar, only to start kicking myself for jumping into the attack instead of trying to get out.

Well, just like DmC, you don't know how well it plays till it's in your hands. And don't forget that Bayonetta isn't DMC so don't expect it to be a clone, there is a learning curve and to master the game in it's playground you gatta learn it's rules.
