Elite: Dangerous confirmed for Xbox One

It has been confirmed that the PC space title will be coming to Xbox One in the Summer and includes all content added to the PC version by February's Community Goals content update and March's Wings content update.

David Braben from Frontier had the following to say about the news...

Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One will be the complete and authentic Elite: Dangerous experience. It will not be 'dumbed down'. We'll be working with an all-new audience, but that doesn't mean a change in direction for the game, and nor does it mean slowing development on the PC version. The second of our updates - Wings - is being beta tested by some of you right now, and the third will be coming in the spring, free of charge. We'll be talking more about the third major update - Powerplay - soon!

Months Later, Elite: Dangerous Players Make Major Discovery About Mysterious Alien Artifacts

A handful of months ago, players began coming across “unknown artefacts” that made bizarre noises—some of which were morse code scans of nearby objects, others of which had players scratching their heads so hard that they developed premature bald spots.

After trying almost literally Everything Else, a player going by the name of Mike Juliett Kilo decided to feed a pre-recorded unknown artefact signal into an antique scanner item he had in his cargo. It spat out a vector image—specifically, one of the very ship he was flying.

People have also been describing their first interactions with Thargoids in other Elite games.

Frontier Developments reveal 12 month roadmap for Elite Dangerous

Four updates, going under the catch-all name Beyond, are currently planned for release in 2018, and all will be free to those that own the Elite: Dangerous expansion Horizons. There's a real mix of additions throughout the year, but the general focus appears to be on delivering new quality of life features and on deepening the game's core, rather than the kind of banner feature additions that have marked Elite's currently ongoing second "season".
