Do you guys think that this game has any chance of being a successor to the original series?

Not really. Presenting the story through lengthy cinematic is detrimental, because gaming is supposed to be an interactive medium. The old DMC's were guilty of this as well. Their messages were also presented in a very hamfisted way.

Especially with human swat teams shooting surrendering prisoners for no reason. Like they were saying:

HEY GUYS, THEY'RE SHOOTING PEOPLE. LOOK HOW BAD THEY ARE! AUTHORITY IS BAD RIGHT?!

It was a very hamfisted approach.
 
I support the game completely but i dont think this game will a be a successor. To be a successor you have to be better but this game dosnt really feel like that much like DMC. Go play the DmC demo then play any other dmc then you will know what i mean.

Seems like I have to disagree completely with this one... Personally it feels for me like a DMC game and story wise it is far better and interesting thatn Nero and the backtracking of DMC4
 
As a successor. I don't think so, DMC3 is still my most favorite (combat wise anyway). But this could be the best game I've played into the series. The gameplay feels different, but I found it more interesting and more entertaining than DMC4's atleast. Not saying DMC4 was bad (it's my second favorite excluding DmC), but for some reason, the gameplay wasn't very fun, and the fomula, moves, and animation were mostly the same as DMC3. (though DAT PANDORA WAS AWESOME). And the lack of updates for Nero made the game less entertaining.
 
When i fell deep characters and serious cinematic storytelling i said ''Ok, bye old DMC games, i never felt that way with you''
I see better crazy/creative designs than gothic styles (i get bored of gothic castles for 4 games)
I wont care the gameplay to be SUPERIOR cause i dont want it SUCK MY LIFE.
If the game keep go this way, i would be ok. Cause its more than any other DMC games
 
Well obviously KAT character is the most i liked in DMC games.
She is a VERY VERY VERY good person, and not a sexy bitch like Trish or melancholic crybaby like Lady.

Uggh you obviously have never played the old DMC games because your sentence is full of wrong.

Yeah. For what it's worth, Kat is a very well-written character. People that say she isn't usually haven't written that much to begin with.
 
Nah. It would have been much better if it stood on its own rather than wearing the DMC tag in my opinion. I just finished watching the whole game on youtube and I didn't get 'Devil May Cry' from it at all. It's so radically different from the past games that it should have been made into a new IP.

Are you talking to me? Well for one in DMC1 Trish was never a "sexy bitch" and Lady only cried like twice in 3 when she though her father was dying and then right at the end when she shot him point blank DMC4 (Trish)...she was okay but Gloria...
 
Thats realy stupid argument. As consumer i have right to not like potential product. I dont need to be pro cook to judge if i like taste of meal, same with games or anything.

Kat is a good person and a likeable charicter so I don't dissagree with your opinion of her but Lady a crybaby? I don't think I've ever heard that one before. Not even from the people who call Nero "emo" for being the only charicter in DMC4 to have any depth. (Kyrie would probably have some depth if she had a bit more screen time but that didn't happen leaving Nero the only real person in the game but that has nothing to do with what I am trying to say.) Anyway my point is even people who have shown hostility to a charicter (Nero) just because he showed reasonable human emotions (but still got things done) do not have that reaction to Lady (probably because she doesn't replace Dante). So it is very confusing that you appear to have had that reaction to Lady. Especially since Lady, unlike Nero has been shown after her first appearance so we know how she acts when she isn't emotionally invested in the situation (no crying or other strong emotional reactions, a lot of trying to get money from Dante dispite his lack of money)
