Do you guys think that this game has any chance of being a successor to the original series?

Okay. first off this is a discussion thread, not a flaming/trolling/hate thread or whatever.

I'm simply posing a question of which we should all ask while playing or judging the game on Youtube.

In my opinion,This game doesn't seem to have any chance of being a successor. it lacks in speed, variety of options (styles, mainly) and mainly depth. Jump Cancelling is beyond broken and the game has so many glitches in it it's pretty much pathetic.

The only thing that can decide whether or not they continue this is the profit obviously. but not everyone hates this game so what could sum this up is :"Vote with your wallet" - Alarmhat.

Maybe an expansion or an alternate take on the series, to me it's good enough to stand on its own.

Tbh, I couldn't really care less. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. I'd feel disappointed if what I want doesn't happen but I'll accept it regardless.

I mean I don't really mind the story. except the bad writing and design of some characters (Ahem,dante.). but still, the game has so much room for improvement and content that can be added,I don't think they should release it yet. if they added styles and more weapons i'd be extremely happy

I think I would have liked the story better if NT didn't raise the bar so high on their interviews, they said they wanted to resent us with a well written story, but what they gave us, while still good, didn't really stack up to what they were saying, I found it no better or no worse than DMC3's.

They basically set the game up for a sequel... Depends on how much money Capcom get's back from the game..

I'd say it could. For me it's already better than DMC2,3 & 4.
All that remains to be seen if it will be better than DMC1. I think it will, since DMC1 is so old now... it had issues that annoyed me (flawed lock-on)... but I'm not going to hold my breath on it.

DMC5 is probably not going to happen. Plus NT have learned how to make good combat system so maybe DmC2 will be pretty good.

I gotta say no on that one.

DmC is in my opinion the best Devil May Cry I've seen, hands down...but the original series still has a place in my heart. So I'm gonna say no on that.

But I do worry that DMC5 will be ass like DMC4, but if Capcom is learning how to actually make a good story from NT, then It might have hope, though I doubt it quite highly. If they do make DMC5, it better not be like that abomination of a DMC game called DMC4, or DMC2.

In my opinion, I think Capcom would stand to make a great profit from DMC5, I'm sure gamers who have played DmC as their entry to the series will start buying copies of DMCHD and DMC4, I think that if DMC5 takes some cues from DmC, Capcom can effectively increase their fanbase. Just an unlikely theory of mine from my marketing student days.

The combat in DMC4 was hands down the best in the series though, hope they can keep that.
If Capcom is learning how to actually make a good story from NT
I think NT needs to learn how to make a good story first.
