either you're catching onto something that i'm not...or this was just a nice little bit of clips from one of my favorite game series
I was referring to how each game was presented. 
DMC1-Awkward looking platforming
DMC2-Purely cutscenes
DMC3-Purely gameplay
DMC4-Purely cutscenes
DmC-Someone having a seizure or someone who fell in love with the X button while holding the right trigger.

nope. i said ONE OF. i think my fave is uncharted and the arkham games. maybe castleania as a runner up. DS? sorry. sever brain fart here

The only inconsistency I see in the series is the fact that the story is all over the place.
Purpose of this is....what exactly? The games are anachronistic to it's timeline, something most fans know.
The gameplay style, difficulty, storyline, combat system, and personality assigned to Dante have changed constantly over the series because of Capcom making different people work on each game.
Now, which style of gameplay, storyline or personality for Dante you prefer is entirely up to you.
