DmC wins PSU's Best Action Game Award

I've never played a GOW game. (Mostly cause my mom doesn't like games of death and gore) I've seen abit of GOW and it does look fun, but I've allways been use to playing DMC and Kh, that I never had tiime for it. Still don't. I'm sure the story is interesting and with the whole "I climbs from hell to kill demons" thing, but I'll probablly never get to play it.

You should try them if you ever get a chance, there's actually quite a lot of puzzles for series that has so much gore and blood in them, the story won't appeal to everyone, but personally I liked it very much, some guys might curse me when I say that in some ways it's story surpasses that of the DMC series...(looking at you DMC2 & 4>_<)

My final conclusion is that they are both excellent (DMC & GOW) series in the wide world of Hack 'n Slash

PS. Leave the PSP versions out of it :D

the reason why the story is better is because it has CONSISTENCE, it'll be an epic fail if i misspell that >_<, but yeah unlike dante, kratos didn't undergo radical changes from each game he stayed true to his character through and through. That aside i quite enjoyed GoWIII when i had it loved the interaction i had with QTE's during cut scenes, which were gory and very very beautiful.

But yeah both very good game in their own respects but if you were to compare them GoW would be the better series, though that's my opinion i'm sure they'll be people who disagree.

The thing is that DMC series is like a rollercoaster, it's quality goes up and down and up and down again :/ while GOW is more steady in terms of quality, you always know what you're gonna get and if you liked it before you'll probably like the next one too.

Also in DMC series they never actually planned any sequels, thus Dante would always change to the next game, this is where DMC3 succeeded in story, because it's easier to do prequels than sequels...

but DmC could change that. The foundation is set. The lore, the characters, the atmosphere it's all just waiting to be used at it full potential. Actually thinking about maybe the 3rd sentence doesn't make as much sense :/ but the point is DmC can actually start off a series, not just good/bad games but a series, by expanding on lore that's already there.

damnit i know i could've worded it better but i lost my train of though after that firsst sentence :troll:

Exactly :) there was this arcticle about making good sequels: http://www.vgchartz.com/article/83289/how-to-make-a-good-sequel/

Lesson 3 - Try Not to Lose Your Lead Designer
BioShock (X360): 94.95%
BioShock 2 (X360): 87.89%

AND a more extreme example:

Devil May Cry: 92.60%
Devil May Cry 2: 73.61%
one thing i found funny is that DMC3 is the best DMC, aside from the original of course, yet it sold the fewest copies,1.3 mill if i'm correct. But that aside weren't the GoW game developed by different people as well? GoW was made by david jaffe, IIRC i'm really reaching back with this stuff, and GoWII was made by someone else who's name escapes me even though i saw the extras on the HD collection. Even with that the series didn't lose it's focus like DMC did. Lessons could be learned even if it's from a 1st party studio.

Also funny side note Capcom has thus far made 2 very confusing storylines with games that they made multiplat. DMC4 being 360/ps3 and dino crisis being xbox/ps2 i know DMC3 was on pc no need to mention that. Just noticed that awhile back that when capcom themselves attempted to appeal to the western audience they failed with those two.

David Jaffe was the lead designer of the first one, but Sony Santa Monica was the developer that made all GOW games, and I think that it was DMC2's fault that the 3rd sold so little, one bad game can ruin the reputation of the whole series and sadly that is what I believe that happened.

I guess Kamiya's influence over DMC was much greater than Jaffe's on GOW so his departure was a lot harder hit. Also here might be one of the differences between japanese and western developers, like what would have happened to MGS series if Kojima hadn't directed any of them since MGS2. We already saw that happen to Metal Gear Rising...

well i know most MGS fans will tell you.... they do not like MGR as much as they do MGS. But the situations is sort of similar to DmC but only a little there's still the huge difference in what their changing. I'm no follower of MGS but i know it's a sealth action game, like the old splinter cells i would say, and MGR is a stylish action that is a huge departure from the original games much more so than what NT is doing with DmC.

As for Kamiya's influence well i like to believe we will never exactly know how much of a hard hit it was for him to leave. People can dig DMC but it's hard to say the direction it would've gone in after it was done really. If DMC3 is any indication what difference would him leaving have made? DMC2 was bad but DMC didn't give hints to a sequel really so unless Kamiya starts sharing theories there isn't anything concrete saying a DMC2 by Kamiya would be a much better game. Also i'd like to note that the lead designer for DMC2 was the same for DMC3 so quality obviously got better anyway better to the point where a game like DMC3 is compared to bayonetta.

But anywho like i said earlier i hope DmC takes the best of each game's story and really expands it that way it can start of a very good and consistent story that can lead to books, mangas, and maybe even an anime that can expand the universe as a whole. The better the first impressions the better chance it get's different forms of being enjoyed.

Minor note: If there's one mistake that DmC is taking from the old series is that their pitting dante against the big bad boss so early, see DMC1 where dante already fights and defeats mundus, quite frankly i would like to see dante lose so that the plot can continue as a whole without a minor plothole like this which could make dante OP so early in his life
^:o why did i write all that :o

Yes!! This is awesome news :D *gets teary eyed* I knew NT/Capcom would prove all the haters wong!! XD

Nelo, I like the way you're thinking  as with MGR it was gonna be the first one without Hideo Kojima and look what happened, Konami had to hand it over to Platinum Games but I'm not saying that it was a bad decision ^_^ There is still a huge difference what Kojima productions and Platinum Games would have done with it, example right here :
first one is from Kojima productions and the second one is from Plat games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=1qL_IFyyqX0
