Don't worry! there is a good probability that DMC 3 Vergil will pass him out and then I'll be the one using this GIF

Vergil is mah sexy man i mean look at him

Awe, if he's willing to put up with Nero and not throw him up against a wall than I have some more respect for him lol. I actually would have liked to see how Vergil would've reacted around Nero in another DMC installment but he was dead by DMC4 anyway so, C'est la vie :'(

I like to think he was just thrown back into hell after 1, and my headcanon is that Nero is actually *bum bum buuuum* Mundas's son :D

I like DMC3 Vergil the most ultimately, though I admit it's for 75% superficial reasons. It's just a shame he'd been shafted by Capcom and/or the writing staff over time, but some of his attacks look better or have a more impactful feel in DMC3. That said, DmC Vergil has a special place in my heart...

-- His trick movements and the ability to cancel them like crazy makes him look like a speed god.

-- The way you can use summoned swords to set enemies up is pretty awesome. Combo an enemy out over the the void of limbo, then teleport back in to safety with a safely waiting enemy you skewered earlier. Also a long with the ability to teleport himself to things or vice versa, he can outright move things he's struck with a summoned sword (ie: the cutscene where Vergil hits Dante with a subway). Because of his similarities with a certain Naruto character, I have thus forth dubbed him "Minergil." And combined with the doppleganger power, this makes for a pretty badass character powerwise.

-- His Downfall storyline won back some points from me that the regular story lost when it came to Vergil. Had a good mix of mystery and mental insight on, and a progression into a**hole territory that made some sense.

I only wish his Judgment Cut looked as awesome as the ones on DMC3 or 4.Still, I'd imagine that combining doppleganger-assisted Judgment Cut could be somewhat cool...

@meg5493

That sounds like it would be pretty cool with the right kind of writers and if he came back like his DMC 3 self and not like Nero Angelo! If done wrong then it could turn into a bad soap opera; this is why I wish Capcom would teach cd projekt red how to make a hack n' slash. I really think they would have the talent of pulling off a story about bringing Vergil back without being cliche.

I would also prefer it if Nero wasn't related to Vergil or Dante in any way....The whole Vergil finding a stripper to father Nero idea really made me cringe..was that canon or made up? Please tell me it was a made up joke.

If that is canon the series is ruined

Which do you perfer? When voting base this on gameplay, character, and voice actor. I like them both equally.
I haven't had a chance to actually play it. But I have watched the cutscenes. Is that ok?

With that being said, it's a tie for me

voice actor: Tbh they both have their faults.

DMC 3 Vergils sounds way too adorable to be sinister "WHY ISN"T THIS WORKING" makes me go awww whenever I hear it. It's cute but not appropriate for the situation.

DmC Vergil's voice actor is good, but it doesn't feel like it matches with the character either.

So they tie in this category

character:
DMC 3 Vergil: Has little known background info, yet character leaves a big impression. Wish we had more on his background story. Shouldn't have to depend on outside sources for info that should already be in the game (that's one of my biggest peeves right now actually)

DmC Vergil: Has a lot of background info about his character and yet his presence feels like he's just there. No impact whatsoever. VD did help but still it just feels odd.

Gameplay I'm not gonna judge since I haven't played DmC. Granted, Vergil's gameplay in DmC looked very nice and interesting. Very fast paced. I liked that.

I'm leaning more towards DMC3's Vergil but that's the nostalgia factor kicking in I know it x3

Trying to be fair here afterall lol.

Well be sure to play it when making your final decision. Maybe you wont like it, maybe you will.

I find that Vergil's motivations in DmC make more sense, and you can even sympathize with him.
Not to mention, the game explains why Vergil and Dante are in such a feud. Devil May Cry 3 throws you into the thick of things will little context.

I think if they did something like making Nero Mundas's son it could work if done right. Like before the events of 2 like Dante and co. here a rumor about Mundas having a son so Dante, Trish, Lady and Nero go to stop it but they find out his son was already born and that son is NERO!!! He kills trish and lady and it takes all of dantes strength to seal Nero into the demon world *after DMC2* Dantes still depressed but it seems some demons (the four horse men) are trying to open a hell gate so that Nero can destroy the earth or stuff

That sounds interesting although, poor poor Nero (wait, are you saying Nero would kill Trish and Lady instead of Mundus killing them? if so then **** him!). However how would you explain Nero looking like a young Dante/Vergil?

it would at least be a pretty grand finale to the series if they wanted to end it, because I'm still hoping for at least one more DMC game. There were just too many unanswered questions that need to be answered damn it! it would also explain the Dante in DMC2 pretty well. You should show your idea to Capcom and hopefully they would get some inspiration from it.

Anyway, I'm going to bow out now because I feel like I'm derailing the thread.

I like them both equally, too, which is why I wonder why you didn't include a third option for "both".

I like classic Vergil for his sheer power, arrogance and ambition, he's very cool and untouchable, the perfect force to challenge Dante. I like new Vergil for his flaws and vulnerability, his struggle hits me right in the gut, and, for me, he far surpasses new Dante in complexity and likeability. In my fantasy world, Vergil's Downfall was the full game instead.

I'd say new Vergil has the superior voice actor (although poor guy got shafted on a couple of cringe-worthy script choices) and more depth to his character, but classic Vergil is more consistent due to being more simple and direct, and easier to admire, being more of a dark antihero than a straight-up villain in the games (he's a monster in other media, though). I've yet to test gameplay with new Vergil, so I can't judge. They both have really badass designs and are excellent chick-bait. Damn shame there's no option to play new Vergil without his coat...damn shame.

DMC3 of course. That cold and precise bastard, absolutely opposite to Dante. His voice actor did great job in both recording voice and motion capture and also bring some nostalgia about power rangers.

It's only a matter of time before it turns into "Vergil is better than Vorgil" war oh and i like DmC Vergil a little bit more than his classic version.

My bad, if i could change it i would

There's something about the old Vergil that is so bland he's actually kinda cool. I like how he doesn't get sidetracked and doesn't take crap from anyone.

This new Vergil however is much more fun to play with and has an interesting and developed backstory. This character is easily the most well written, designed and fascinating of the series. Not only that but he's able to display more emotions and willing to negotiate outside of his main goal.
Compared to the old Vergil who was as emotionally developed as Kristen Stewart

Even the fan art pictures have him with the same lifeless expression.

NewVergil has almost everything the old Vergil had but additions that beat what the old Vergil could do. Instead of Beowolf we have the awesome Doppelganger system while still having summoned swords and the slick clean slices of Yamato.
