It is unlikely that they would reboot a minor charicter from the anime in any role and if they did there is absolutely no chance that they would give her one of the most important roles in the game.

Hey, if they can make her a cool character, I'd see go for it.
the series has a lot to draw on story wise besides the games so they have a lot to go with.
A way to get fans on your side would be too show knowledge of the series.
Especially if they bring in elements from Dante's original origin, the first light novel.

If you ask me, this is not a great idea. Most of the people I've discussed this with aren't willing, even if you'd give them the game for free, to say anythng positive about it.
If the game shows something new, it suddendly doesn't look "like DMC at all!!!!". If you show something old it;s a "bad copy of the original series!!!!".
This is just judging the fanbase from my experience with them. I consider myself a veteran of this war.

Its not a war, its more of a slapfight between nerds or a heated debate.
Well reboots should try to use elements of the old series in new ways as then you could impress fans with knowledge of the series. Plus most elements of the old series can be used as they could come up with good stories using elements of the series.
i can give you examples if you want.
Besides, if they dont want to use any elements from the old series, than why reboot at all?
Now that I have watched
I must say I really think about DmC beeing some kind of dystopic, destroyed and dangerous future without Descendants of Sparda and the new "Dante" may be some kind of clone. However in my opinion the gameplay from the above vid reminds me a lot of Matrix and Halo, tbh it could be possible that the world Dante is roaming around in, may be a generated entitity much like in the actual Matrix. In one of the trailers, Dante says something like "Ebony & Ivory, i missed you my loves". I don't think this is going to be a prequel.

I really hope this game is going to be good.
As of now, I'm playing #4 on all modes until I receive my copy of the #1-3 HD remake,
only bridging the gap until Fall or Q1 2013, whatever date DmC may be released on.
Though I am already a bit disappointed about that AI helping hologram..

This is a thread for theories if you want to complain about Dante's hair you are going to have to make a thread for it. Off topic posts are against the rules here. Also the new Dante is definitely Dante and he is not going to be changed to look like to original Dante. the entire point of DmC is to be signifigantly different from Devil May Cry 1-4.

I dunno, to me i would find it more senseful if the new dante was Dante's kid
Trish and Dante of the original series were never shown dating.
This new Dante is a whole new character not related in any shape or form with the characters of the original series.
The new Devil May Cry is a reboot, a whole new take on the Devil May Cry world which has nothing to do with the storyplot of the original series. That means that the four previous games haven't happened in this new Devil May Cry. It's a whole new world with new characters and a new storyplot.
