dmc reboot?

DMC is not dead. DmC is what the franchise has needed since DMC4.

Hope we see a Sparda storyline for DMC5.

DMC4's story was not just weird for some people, but I think for Dante as well.
He is suddenly being told by his girlfriend that his father is being worshipped (without his permit) as a god in a seemingly cult religion that he never noticed.
And for worse, he is told to go there of course...to shoot the pope.

I heard somewhere that Dante actually had an Oedipal attraction to Trish in DMC1 is that true?

i dont think it is? i remember seeing somewhere that it was confirmed that dante and trish never had that kind of relationship and he only wanted to help her out because she looked like his mom

Kamiya went on record a long time ago from a question on twitter that Dante and Trish's relationship was strictly platonic. Seems to be one of the few things Capcom managed to retain after DMC1, avoiding any relationship-based story arcs.

Why not give us a reason why you think there will be no classic DMC except for long intervals? (The game franchise is quite known for long intervals anyway)

Because Capcom said that they will release a sequel to their most popular franchises every 2-3 years. You think that 7 years after DMC4, there's still going to be the majority of original fans around and interested?
Tameem also said that if Capcom wanted to make DMC5, they would have done so themselves.

Their most popular franchises still include DMC, and in the article where they said they wanted to ramp up development time, DMC was among the franchises mentioned, and if they can make money off of running DmC and DMC congruently, you know they will. Why do you find it so difficult to realize that you can't predict what a company plans on doing next?

Tameem also said that if Capcom wanted to make DMC5, they would have done so themselves.

Yes, but the whole reason they came to Ninja Theory was to not make a DMC5 right now, and to make a different kind of Devil May Cry. That's no inclination that they'll never go back to DMC5.

Capcom has made it very clear that Devil May Cry 5 and DmC2 are both equally possible at this point in time and that doing both is an option that they are considering.

I've said this multiple times before, but I'll say it again. Devil May Cry as a franchise NEEDS DmC. Its a breath of fresh air that its needed. As usual, its hated because its a reboot and people hate change, but the franchise as a whole is benefiting from DmC.

Dude...a reboot can and usually is an "AU," because it's an entirely different (alternate) universe using the same themes the brand is known for. As a reboot, it's starting over, and as an alternate universe, it's establishing its own canon and doing things differently than what the series is known for. The best known uses of this was things like Batman, and all the different iterations of his movies. Just because you don't want to accept that its a narrative concept that can be done outside of comics doesn't mean it isn't true :/

L2comprehend.

Well, you are at least one of the wiser ones who knows it's a reboot not an AU ^_
A Reboot IS an AU because it typically changes a lot of back story and character information for the sake of refreshing and revamping. A PREQUEL is what you're referring to where it's the same universe. the Q&A yesterday on Capcom Unity got an outright answer that it's a different universe continuity in DmC from classic DMC.

So half of people agree that it's a reboot thus a restart of the whole series, the other does so as well but it's also an AU and DMC5 is possible? talk about confusion. If it's indeed a restart that DMC5 won't happen, if it's a spin-off (which never was stated to be) then yeah, if they wish so

Dude, you're just listening to what you want to. They've talked about how it's its own universe for years now.

I recall seeing a interview a while back where it was revealed that Capcom is open to doing DMC5 but it all depends on how well DmC does.

Whether that means if it does good or bad was not revealed.

I think Capcom deliberately made that line "ambiguous" if you ask me.

Bro relax. Ironically, the whole reason we've joined this forums is to get away from Hatred and criticism towards this game. All I see is you guy's adding fuel to the fire at this point. DmC was more focus on Western fans of the DMC franchise, and DMC was meant for japanese Fans, being that it was based off a manga. DMC2 storyline came after DMC4, and DMC2 ended with cliffhanger. Capcom made the fatal mistake of jumping back into the past which resulted in DMC4, leaving those who know the order of the story in confusion. Capcom has made too many prequel-sequels of the story, they've basically created a paradox for themselves.

It could be possible DmC is an alternate universe, where it collaborates with DMC. DmC could be used as a plan to attract more western fans towards the series and buy Capcom some time to figure out how they plan on continuing DMC.

I honestly can't understand why Capcom would make the same mistake of passing one of their most popular game franchises to another company, unless their is an interior motive behind it all. They could possibly be looking for the right candidates to pass the game to. but, whatever.

Seriously, "IF" DMC is gone for good then our only options is to accept it, or move the hell on.

wahh DMC was based off a manga?! Are you sure? It took some stuff from the Divine Comedy but what manga?

You are confusing a lot of terms man.
DmC was first stated to be a reboot all things considered, but the huge backlash made it go and rethink it's status as that. So now it's a re-imagining of the DMC universe, meaning that it takes place in it's own world: an alternate universe where DMC and DmC can still exist as separate series a la Megaman (Legends/X/Zero/etc) franchise.
A SPIN OFF is when an existing element of the original series begins growing into it's own franchise or one-off. It is synonymous with the term "side story/sidequel" in media.
DMC4 is a special case, it does not count as a spin off because you still play as Dante and a huge chunk of the game focuses on him. I the gameplay was completely centered on Nero it would definitely count as a spin-off.

But if you're hell bent on thinking that DMC is over. Then good for you.
