DmC Multiplayer Idea

I actually had someone play co-op with me on DMC3 as the doppleganger once, only problem was the screen was always centred on me so I had to keep adjusting the camera to keep him on screen. Otherwise it was quite fun, so a refined version I think would be quite good. Though it would be best played with friends you are talking to rather than random matchmaking.
PVP I don't agree with though, maybe a form of friendly competition in co-op scoring could be included but not full on PVP.

Someone proposed a multiplayer mode similar to the "Truestyle Tournament" Where two players would compete for style points for 2 minutes, and then spectators could vote for who they liked best, adding on more points.

It would be extremely difficult to balance everything though, and voters could be biased.
The hosted tournaments we get now are practically multiplayer competitive games, but since they have actual judges it's much more fair and easy to handle than an in-game competitive scoring mode.

But it's not like it doesn't count JUST because the console version wont support it..PC still counts.
And one of the main things that make PC so great is that hardware is usually not an issue, not 100% of the time, but most of the time.

That doesn't necessarily mean it's not fun because its good on paper. some people do genuinely enjoy this kind of "Fun".
I don't mind if they limited it on console, but is there really a reason to limit it on PC when you really don't have to?

yes it has to be limited on pc. But thats only because mods exist so all they have to do is bypass it :/ the limit is purely cosmetic.

I agree it's not as simple as I proposed, but I don't see how there are balance issues..? I mean the one who's more stylish wins.

So then why limit it in the first place?

because its only fair to console gamers. And before you even say "but than its fair for pc gamers" they can bypass it soooo it doesn't really matter in the end.

So...It's pointless either way? I'm not trying to be irritating. I just dont see the point in limiting the PC players if they're going to bypass it anyway.

exaclty like i said its mainly just so console players don't start to bi tch, and bit ch they will my friend.

Not necessarily, in a game like DmC there will be multiple methods that get a higher payoff than others but there is also likely to be some methods that are blatant winners; making multiplayer matches all about people finding those top methods and repeating those same methods over and over each game. One particular method I can think of is grouping enemies and using attacks that hit the most enemies at once. Something that isn't really too difficult to achieve in DmC. Getting score balancing on this grouping method would be very tricky.

However if I were to try and balance the game I would have waves randomly generated, and maybe a weapons restriction mode where both players are given the same weapons to work with but not all of them to avoid as many exploits as possible. But this really doesn't sound very fun to me (The restricting players idea in particular, random gen waves I don't think would be enough to solve the issue on its own).

Oh,I guess I didn't make myself clear that the TST mod was suggested for DMC4. oh well.

But yeah I can see it getting out of hand in DmC. for instance, kablooey with demon dodge and DT for 600k.
If they just copied the style system from the original series however, most of this would probably already be fixed.

I don't know if randomly generated waves are a good idea, seeing as this is supposed to be a skill based mode. so randomly generating enemies can bring a luck factor,we don't want that. or atleast I don't. lol.
We could also solve this problem by letting a player pick an invulnerable enemy of his choosing. that will never die (Heaver enemies and Witch are not included).

Ohh rite, yeah DMC4 has less exploits but still has a few game winning methods that stand out.

And now we have another balance issue right there, random gen waves would be partly luck based. But without it the repeated methods thing would be real easy to do.
Invulnerable enemies sounds good, but that again would lead to repeated methods, so we're back to square one. The enemy could be programmed to break out of combos often to try and mix things up a bit and add a few variables. But that would be difficult to balance too since the enemy needs be be as unpredictable as possible, but at the same time must treat both players fairly (Not letting one guy get a full combo in whilst the other guy gets countered on the second hit).

It's such a damn vicious circle.

I'd view spectator votes as a way to break this, but as you said. They could be biased.
This seems VERY hard to execute properly. I think the best way to go about is like you said. Program to enemy to break out of combos and mix things up or something along the line.
