DmC feels like a proper prequel to DMC1

After watching the ending for DmC again, I can't help but feel like DmC would be a better prequel to DMC1 then DMC3. Now before anyone calls me crazy, I just think that the way Dante said "the world is under my protection now" seemed as though he was really going to protect the world. Like this was a true beginning to the Devil May Cry business and an office, and a red coat to go with that white hair as a sign of his powers awakening. However there would obviously be plot holes like Dante being Nephilim and such, but that's just how I see it.

be prepared to face some heavy **** my friend. i do agree to a certain degree. i believe if DMC1 was more like the anime, DmC would have fit right in as a prequel, just make kat a stronger character and rename her as lady and have arkham play a small role in the game. then it would have been a truer prequel in my opinion to DMC1

DmC was not a prequel but a reboot.

Prequel is events preceding an existing work. Reboot is to restart or to go back to the drawing board. There's a difference.

I know. But through a symbolic sense, I feel as though DmC gave a better backstory to Dante's life and how what could have happened in DmC lead up to DMC1. Minus potholes.

Classic DMC games are based on legacy of sparda. In DMC 1, Dante's reputation is constantly questioned as the son of dark knight sparda. DmC made sparda so weak , he could not even defend himself against mundus. Sparda defeated mundus in classic DMC history. He was a legend and was constantly mentioned as a source of power in DMC 1 and DMC 3.Sorry, can't connect DmC to DMC 1.

I get what you mean in a way. There are bits in DmC that would have been good in DMC3. Like more backstory about Dante's life, seeing as we know hardly anything about classic Dante's life as a child or teenager.

Also, I would have liked aspects of Vergil's downfall to be in DMC3...what I mean is for the game to be more clear on why DMC3 Vergil is the way he is.

Sure, you can understand DMC3 Vergil's motivations from when he says: 'Might controls everything - and without strength, you cannot protect anything; let alone yourself.'
You can read so much into those lines that tell you about why Vergil wants power and what is going on in his head, but in the Downfall DLC, these motivations are much clearer when Vergil confronts manifestations of Kat and Dante that force him to face his own insecurites....it makes it clearer for the player what is going on in Vergil's head.

We don't really know how powerful Sparda was. For all we know, he could've been the second strongest in the demon world.

Now that you say that, I kinda agree. It would be great if they just cut to years later where Dante starts his demon hunting business. Dante has been killing demons all his life and in a way was following out errands when he was going off killing demons like Bob to help Vergil bring Mundus down.

And before anybody says 'the point of a reboot is to be different, why should he' take a look at what Lara winded up becoming at the end of the new Tomb Raider. And why not? It's Devil May Cry. Some weren't happy with DmC, so they should make it feel more familiar. Giving Dante his old business and that place he called home would be a start.

Do we even have a definate story of how Mundus was defeated by Sparda. It could have been just luck that Sparda won...or maybe Sparda was physically stronger than Mundus...

As for DmC, I get the feeling Sparda surrendered himself to Mundus to stop him looking for his children.Put it this way; if thy couldn't find Dante 10+ years after the house raid, then I doubt they would find Sparda. So the only way Mundus could have punished Sparda was if Sparda turned himself in.

"If you put aside 95% of the content, then DmC would be the proper prequel to DMC1" (What?).

DMC3 Dante and Donte aren't alike at the end of the game, so I don't get what are you saying. DMC1 Dante isn't the "protector of the world" or something like that, I think you got a wrong idea of the character and the deveploment in DMC3. The part "DmC is a better prequel to DMC1" well...I don't understand your reasoning, I mean, even if Dante and Donte were alike, how the reboot is supposed to be a better prequel than the game that was specially made to be the prequel? It should say something like "DMC1 feels like a good sequel to DmC" at least.

It's just the way DmC was set up and having "Donte" mature from the ass hat douchebag scumbag into a better Devil hunter with a purpose seemed more proper to DMC1 then some frat boy yolo swag kid, just becoming a little bit less Yolo, but still a frat boy swag kid.

And don't go getting mad about me calling the heavenly of all Dante's such names. I get enough grief for how I express my opinions on each Dante. -_-

DMC3 Dante got a purpose at the end of the game that match his character, experience and backstory, being linked to DMC1 Dante. By the way, while Dante needed to defeat Vergil, he didn't wanted to kill him, he wanted to save Vergil somehow, instead of stab him in the heart like the other one.

"Everyone that likes DMC over DmC are fanboys!"

I don't think DmC Dante wanted to kill him either maybe his devil side got the best of him

Even so, he could've visibly shown he was maturing. I couldn't really see how he was any different from how he started. He was still talking about parties, and all, so I couldn't see a character change right away.

No more like "If you say something bad about DMC in general, you are a DmC fanboy" which isn't the case because I don't like DmC neither.

i feel as if you've just contradicted yourself. correct me if i'm wrong though. i was under the impression that you enjoyed DmC

I found it an okay game, but I don't like the concept of Dante's character not being rebellious enough, and I hated that the story didn't go as far as I wanted it to in terms of dark and gritty. It felt like some fifteen year old was watching too much cartoons, and made DmC from it and a bit of inception to me. However, I will more then happily prove people wrong when they get their info on DmC twisted and correct them on it while also adding my own opinions on it.

I don't like DmC, but I won't bash it and say false info on it.
