DmC: Devil May Cry movie still on the table

Translation;
Translation: The Devil May Cry saga will have a big screen adaption, based on the reboot of the franchise done by Ninja Theory. By the time we are writing this book, the feature film will be in preproduction, and the studio Screen Gems, from Sony Pictures, owns the rights to the DMClicense. Kyle Ward, author of the screenplay for the film Kane and Lynch (2013), was assigned to write the film based on Devil May Cry.

From the book: DmC: Une Comédie Divine

Uhm, it's not clear if it is really still on the table, because something Ducky didn't translate is that when they wrote "By the time we are writing this book" they added that it was written in January 2013, so who knows what the things are now like, a whole year later?

Whether it's clear or not that the game is in production is irrelevant. They've already gotten the green light and are moving forward. They planned this to not include the sales of the game whether good or bad. I believe it's coming regardless.

I'm not into the RE movie series, but even that has a fanbase and it's not even like how the games used to be.

Just as I said in my DmC dream cast thread, developers who do movie adaptations of videogames are mostly a bunch of muckworms who only care about the greens that get out and barely invest anything in it. I mean, who the f-ck is Kyle Ward? His most accomplished script he has ever written is that of Rodriguez's latest movie "Machete Kills", and that is a big pile of sh-t by Hollywood standards. If this one progresses further, I really don't wanna know who'll portray Dante. Probably some good-looking former stripper who knows about acting as much as I know about cooking.

He probably won't even be good looking. I mean have you seen that guy who played Leon in the RE movies? Hideous. At least in my opinion.

The movie going public is completely different territory. Even though the RE movies for the most part p!ss off fans of the games, they are still unfortunately successful in the box office because we got a bunch of people just looking for a summer blockbuster action movie to check out.

As of fan big movie freak and a fan of Devil May Cry, I'm just trying to be at least cautiously optimistic because I want at least a decent film out of this.

Still, the people behind it have me doubtful and video game film adaptions do have a stigma. The best video game adaptions I've seen are Mortal Kombat and Prince of Persia. I also really enjoy Street Fighter and the Mario Bros. movie but that's just because they are so bad they're good. Fun flicks.

I just hope that this film will be going to the top somehow.

It should be like the Matrix.

SPOILERS to DmC

I don't know why I've been holding out on my theory. But early screenshots of the DmC movie could be those realistic images at the end of the game.

I also believe that the first trailer for DmC is what's being used in the movie to better explain what happened to Dante. They only hint at in the game and in the comic (Vergil Chronicles) they really dig in.

LOL it's unbelievably sad because that actor IS actually good looking. That stupid ****ing hair cut was just so amazingly awful no one noticed. XD I felt so bad for that guy.

I'd rather not have a movie of it. Unless the production value could match something like Sucker Punch, the CGI was pretty sick.
"Pretty sick" you mean, cool, right? *makin' sure*
Yeah guess i agree.. but i wasn't so hot about the direction the film was going. just sayin'

Yeah i guess the art/cinematography could be Frank Miller/Zack Snyder-ish for DmC...

The funny thing is live action doesn't fit ANY DMC game. Reboot or not

For the original series, it should be animated
For DmC, it should be a realistic CG, similar to the Polar Express movie

It was terrible because it was 100% filler.
Filler? I actually like the idea of seeing Dante take on other missions and expanding upon the world of Devil May Cry. Slice of life type deal for our demon hunter is the way to go for an animated series and is more interesting than seeing the same exact sh!t I've already seen in video games. If you want to see that anyway then I suggest you watch either Inuyasha or Bleach and you'll get the same deals.

The reason it was terrible is because it was boring as sh!t. New characters that were just annoying and terrible. And terrible cliche and boring storylines that literally bring nothing worth while to the table.

It can't even be a decent action show. It's not the fact that it isn't a straight up adaption of the games. It's just how much it fails at being just a generally entertaining and good show overall. As well as failing to be a good Devil May Cry one.

I actually DO watch Inuyasha :3

But needless to say, the anime had potential, but for the reasons you stated, it did suck
