It's a reboot, they will ignore DMC3 and make it so this is the first time he will get DT. Most likely, once you activate DT, Dante will crawl on the floor, and his emo fringe will grow longer, and he will start self-harming and crying. Then when your devil bar runs out, you turn back to just normal levels of patheticness, and he stands up again and wipes his eyes.

A harsh point of view I know and 3 was miles from a bad game but I always felt it was massively overrated and didn't see it as anymore of a step in the right direction for the series than DMC2 was and didn't think it was fair for it to be viewed as "DMC is fixed forever and is the best it ever will be" I still wasn't really happy with where it was going.
I wasn't a fan of the gimmicky demons, they frustrated the hell out of me.
I felt the setting was trying way too hard to be gothic.
Dante irritated me pretty much throughout with both the stuff he came out with and his overdoing everything.
And other than maybe cerberus and obviously Rebellion I didn't really like the weapons.
It just felt a bit too 90210/Happy Days with goth makeup on.

^ As much as I love DMC3 I can't help but agree that this reboot should be independent of DMC3 and not feel like it has to end where 3 started or whatever. Just because its so different from the other games I think NT's best bet at making a good game would be to have DmC be its own title. I can't help but think that DmC is gonna be a one and done kinda thing. Like its more of a "what if" scenario than a prequel to 3 so it really shouldn't matter where it ends up story wise.

And the alternative is Dante has no DT throughout the entire game...Which sounds pretty anticlimactic.

I'm pretty sure it's a reboot which is set with a younger dante. At the very least they are going to ret-con a million things, which means it may as well be a reboot in that case. I say this because I am assuming there will be DT, which isn't much of an assumption, and if it is in the game, then it can't be a prequel.

I think that a lot of people don't understand what a prequel is, and what a reboot is, and so even if it's from an official source, I don't pay any attention to it, they talk a load of rubbish. If he's got DT it's a reboot as far as I'm concerned, and there are several other things in the trailer that just seem incompatible with what we know from the other games. I'll fall over if he doesn't have DT, I mean... I dunno *falls over*

In it's own way it would still be a DMC3 remake/retcon. For this game to make sense as a canon prequel there cannot be a DT at all.
