Devil May Cry 4's 360 version is £10 cheaper than PS3 in UK

Capcom has announced that the suggested price for their latest entry into the Devil May Cry series will run £10 cheaper on Xbox 360 in the UK. Devil May Cry 4 is scheduled for release February 8 on both platforms but retailers ultimately get to set the price in the end. Capcom also stated that the title performance is nearly identical on both systems, a “feature” that PlayStation 3 owners have been waiting for for some time.

To summarize, a savings opportunity for Xbox 360 owners while at the same time PS3 owners can finally see some concrete proof that developers are getting a handle on their system.

Too bad we in America can't get the same deal.

Capcom blames retailers for DMC4 pricing

The decision to price the PS3 version of Devil May Cry 4 £10 higher than the Xbox 360 version came from retailers, not publisher Capcom, VideoGamer.com has learned.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com, a spokesperson for Capcom said: "We don't set the prices of our games, that's at the discretion of the retailer. In this specific instance, the process has resulted in a price difference, but the process itself is not something we completely control."

While DMC4 is certainly not the first multi-format game to be more expensive on the PS3, in this case some PS3 owners have complained at the higher price for what is essentially the same game on a different console.

High street specialist retailer GAME lists DMC4 with an RRP of £49.99 on PS3 and £39.99 on Xbox 360. Both Play.com and Amazon.co.uk list the same pricing.

Just the way the pricing works here with some retailers weirdly thats all. All PS3 games are more expensive than Xbox 360 games in some places.

It happens here too. About a 10€ difference with X-Box 360 games being the ones with the smaller price.
