i thought dmc 3 plot was well done....

So how does the manga tie into the game?

It's basically the year that Dante first met Vergil for the first time after the incident of Eva's death.

The manga was supposed to show us how Vergil unlocked all the seals/mechanisms in order for Temme-ni-gru to rise.

How Arkham and Vergil met (the extra cut-scene in DMC3:SE where Vergil meets Arkham in the library is actually taken from the manga. The only difference (that matters, cause there are a few more differences) is that in the game Arkham is already part devil, while in the manga Arkham was still human. Lady's mother was still alive and all at that point.

Dante's life prior to opening his own shop.

How Arkham became a devil.

How Lady's life was before that event, and how it changed her life forever after that.

And a few other stuff.

Only problem? For reasons unknown to me, the author never released the final chapter of the manga thus leaving most of the Lady/Arkham part of the story blank, while Dante & Vergil's part in the manga remained incomplete.

I was wondering if the first light novel was applicable with DMC3?
As in does the prequel seem like if it take place before DMC3 not taking the manga into consideration.

Not really. In the Novel, Vergil (or rather Gilver) is already a servant of Mundus and tries his best to summon him to our world. So if the novel was canon, then it should be after DMC3. However in the novel we also see how Dante gets Ebony & Ivory, and how the idea of opening his own shop comes into his mind. In DMC3 he already has both so by that logic DMC3 should be after the novel.

Therefore these two can't really co-exist.

I know old post, but I should address that.

Gilver NEVER refers to having a master or acting to release Mundus, he's just wanting to unleash hell on earth, seemingly for his own benefit. keeping in mind that DMC3 and DMC1 already have nasty inconsistancieas and continuity errors between each other due to the differing writers...but DMC3 and the first DMC light novel are not all that incompatible.
