Define a true dmc fan?

I honestly don't think there's such a thing as a true DMC fan. You either like a game or you don't, and if someone's opinion differs from yours that's just the way it is.

We're all fans of the DMC series which is why we're here, but just because some of us don't like the same games doesn't make us any less fans of the series.

That's my take on it at least.

As mentioned above, I don't think there is such a thing as a "true fan" either. It's a term used by people who wants to consider themselves better and look down at other fans. Calling yourself a true fan is nothing more than a sign of arrogance. Usually, those who are calling themselves such are mere fanatics who is a bit too obsessed about a certain media. I guess that is my definition of it.

Never is never was such a thing. Ive played it since the first game but I dont claim to be nore want to be a true fan of a series.

The term true fan came after the split in the fanbase with DmC when (yes this) the people who hated the game claimed to be the true fans of the series because they respect the old series by not playing or buying DmC because it is an embarrassment or disgrace to the old true DMC franchise.

It was also used the other way around. I can't count how many times I have read or heard the sentence "You are not a true fan if you don't like DmC!"

I really hate the term "true fan".

I don't know why we can't just say people are fans anymore. Why does there have to be a 'true' fan label? Surely if someone likes the game they are a fan; so why does there have to be a distinction between one type of fan and the other? Just plain silly attempt at people inflating their own ego over a videogame by saying they are 'true'.

Another thing would be the whole Truestyle stuff. People considered those who did combo videos and also despised DmC are true fans. Its a big mess and nothing more than a im better than you because xyz thing.

Honestly, those people are more labeled as "pros" rather than "true fans".
Though they have dedication to learn all that stuff.

No such thing that is just something that people want to throw out into the ether to raise themselves above other people with different opinions. If you like the game or even love it, that's great, if you hate a game in the series that's fine too but when you start throwing that term around you pretty much just looking to belittle someone

'True fan' is someone who likes either the original or the new game or both..also I never thought of anyone as a 'true fan' since if you like any of the games your a 'true fan' there is no club card you get for anything.

There are definitely some pompous jerks that try to use the term true fan to try and manipulate people into agreeing with them. But at the same time, I'm not so certain I can say there is no such thing as a true fan. This is just my own opinion and viewpoint on it. Yes, you can like something and it technically makes you a fan, but if you don't like or care about what makes it uniquely it's own then I do question the loyalty of that particular fan. It's not about being an elitist snob, not for me anyway.

Hmmm, how should I put this. Ok, like a guy that wants to bang a lot of hot girls. He likes her but at the same time he'll dump her once the next hot chick comes along. There are a lot of people that just play DmC because it's the IT game right now, as long as they make it fun to a point, it's enough for them. They hardly care or don't care at all for the characters and the story or what the company does with it. But with, "True fans" the standards may be different. I've seen many anti DmC folks say that the game isn't so bad by itself, but as a DmC game it fails.

Note that this is just my opinion, it's not meant to offend anyone. If you want to play the game then play it, no amount of criticism should stop you from playing it .
