Dantes Dueling souls

The devil in the dark
When you think about it the supposed original story for 4 about dante losing more and more of his humanity ties in nicely and would be a pretty good connection between majin form and sin DT. In 2 Majin DT could be seen as Dantes human half failing and his demon overcoming him for the sake of survival, introducing a disonence between his human and demonic blood. Then 4 happens with dante losing his humanity in his perfect DT form. Im not too sure of all the details of what that entailed only that it aparently ate at his humanity. I think if we got that it would make for a better pay off in 5 when he finally unites both halves so he can use the tremendous power with him losing himself. Even giving more reason for nero to need to as "dante, is that you?" Hes making sure dante hasnt lost himself again. V and urizen could even use this same logic explaining why reformed vergil is more moral. His demon blood is no longer driving him

That was probably a direction the team wanted to take for Dante. How he manage his demonic side and his internal struggle with his desire to destroy. But DMC 4 story wasn't finished and was focusing on Nero, so it probably got scrapped. And with the SDT introduced in DMC 5 with Dante fully in control while the Majin Form is absent, I don't really know.
I think we missed an opportunity to get a glimpse at this in the first fight with Urizen. Why not have Dante use the Majin Form as a desperate last resort against Urizen despite having Nero, Lady and Trish in the room ? Then just make Urizen be overpowered at first, but then use the lack of control of Dante to trick him into attacking Nero, then have Dante cancel the form at the last second, giving Urizen an opening to kick him out before commenting on how power is nothing without control. It would give the SDT some more sense as it would be an attempt to control the Majin Form for a while in order to fight Urizen. Also it would have fleshed out Urizen as the pure demonic side of Vergil by having him ready to use cheap tricks and backstabbing in order to win, something that Vergil 's honor would never allow him to do.

But this side of Dante isn't gone. In Visions of V, we saw that when angered, Dante is prone to let his DT activate out of rage. When V told him that the demon targeted by the contract was named Vergil, Dante lost it for a second before cooling off. So if just ****ing him off can make his DT trigger on its own, it's safe to assume he still have trouble managing his demonic side.

Here's hoping we can pick this story thread up in a future game or the upcoming animated series.

You don't even have to go to material outside the games to make that point, he also lost control of his demonic form for a few secs when he was getting punched by Nero at the start of 4.

True, but it was more apparent in Visions of V. The chapter really focus in the shift on Dante's face during the reveal and how disturbed he is after the reveal.
