Dante sure likes to talk to himself

really? he had somone to talk before kat came along? as was said vergil and the demons effect your sanity to be fair vergil did no go bad guy till the end of the game but that will just make it worse in DmC2
its clear hes talking to give the player insight on what hes thinking.

This is a common thing in video games.

Or maybe, it's not because of some genius writing or backstory.

Need I remind you guys that literally EVERY character in VG history talks to themself unless they are a silent protagonist.

common does not mean sane sure it was written to give the player insight but if DmC was real im sure we would think he is at least a little crazy for flapping his gums every 30 seconds

still he could be worse *thinks of golem*

I talk to myself sometimes.

Its a way to express my reaction to something. Example if i see something weird like a car wreck

Ill go "whats going on there?" similar to Dante.

Ive not done that alot though as such situatons rarely happen.

One of the best way to convey information to the player about the character, events of the story or whatever is through the character.
Ninja theory probably wanted to make Dante talk to display motion capture technology.

Imagine hearing Dante´s thoughts instead of hearing him talk + see his lips move.

A lot of single player games usually have the protagonist muttering things aloud and it's just a video game thing. Again, it isn't talking to yourself, it's thinking out loud.

Talking to yourself is responding to yourself. Like telling yourself hi and muttering conversations as if someone is literally responding to you.

You know, I just also thought of another reason why him talking makes even sense than most other action games. The world is literally trying to crush him, and at points it even talks to him, saying things like **** YOU, DANTE! or CRUSH HIM!, so he is never talking to himself, he is literally talking to the constant demonic presence that surrounds him.

I don't see the point here I talk to myself...moderately when no one is around....hell even when people are around I talk to myself....I'm not insane.....but I do find it annoying he has to REPLY to EVERYTHING...to the point he becomes more annoying than all the past Dantes....not even hot head DMC3 Dante constantly replies to everything that happens and people thinks he talks more than he should.

Like that one scene when that doll popped out in the spooky house and he says "Whatever" or "Don't care." I think not replying with silence would've been more effective to show us how cool or adjusted to Limbo he is. Its almost like NT did everything in their power to make Dante cool (when the story isn't that serious) but it mostly comes off as obnoxious and annoying to me.

Obviously he never heard the expression "Speech is silver but silence is gold."

if you ask me, He's just speaking his thoughts out loud. It isn't that he is crazy or going crazy, it's just that some people like to hear themselves speak. Talking to yourself is also another way of relieving stress during overly frightening or angering moments. It's also a way to relieve yourself of loneliness, something that I used to do a bit. People who often talk to themselves quite often also have social anxieties that were caused by traumatic moments, in either childhood or during a crucial period of mental development.

You have to understand that Dante is not the most mentally sound of people. No, he isn't crazy nor mentally challenged, but he missed out on what he should have been getting as a child: Love, affection, and important key interactions with his parents and sibling. I'm going to go on a limb and say that Dante may in fact be a moderate sociopath, the way he acts and his childhood past leads me to believe this.
