Dante is half demon, half angel.

Let’s examine Sparda’s background compared to Dante’s. Legend has it he saved humanity from the demons and the demon ruler ‘Mundus’. He did it with help, obviously.

Rewatch DMC prologue and see that it said that he was alone when he rebelled against the underworld. Beside, Sparda pitty humanity because they could not defend themselves. Humans would only be in his way to save mankind.

Just how him being half angel does explain certain things. My post is the first post to reply to this Thread. I'm not looking for an argument, just a sensible debate. Everyone keeps coming here stating how it's such a bad idea and they aren't giving any reason apart from "Capcom designed him as half human and half demon".

Making him half demon and half angel (dirty and pure) is really just insane and sick!!!

Being half angel explains how he finds himself in another dimension where he turned against demons.. What's next, making this more similar to bayonneta game?
What more should they add to the game.. that you will fight against angels and god in the end of the game?

They are just messing up with DMC even more..
This is just another good reason that i should't buy this messed up game!!!

By making Dante Half Demon/Angel. It took away what made the Story of Sparda so powerful in the first place. Sparda's betrayal to Demonkind and protecting humanity (much like Hellboy and Trish) Actually had a message. That being Good or Evil is a choice and that we are capable of great good regardless of where we come from. This "Little Nicky/Lady Death" Bullshit doesnt work for DMC. Angels never existed in that universe.

And you can clarify they never existed?

Gods/Goddesses existed in DMC, there's no denying. What's the statue of when you save in Devil May Cry 1? The God of time. You collect amulets in Devil May Cry 2 that say that it is the heart of a Goddess. When you reach a point in Devil May Cry 1 and click on these statues, it speaks of a water Goddess. Gods and Goddesses existed a long time ago, so why wouldn't angels?

While you make a valid point about Pagan Gods Existing in the DMC Universe, the clostest we've ever gotten to an Angel-like creature in the DMC games is Lucia's Devil Trigger in DMC2. And I won't count all those "Holy Armor" Creatures from DMC4 since they were not really angels in the first place, Just creations of a Stuttering Jackass and a Genocidal Maniac in a Silly Pope hat. (Agnus and Emperor Sanctus)

Well, they molded their "demonic" forms after something - Angels! They wanted to look like divine beings, and since they appear angelic in appearance, then I'd say that's a really good proof that there are indeed angels in the world of DMC. Why else would they want to look like angels in the first place?

You make good points, I agree. I mean you're right, we haven't really seen an actual angel in Devil May Cry. But that doesn't mean they don't/didn't exist. Where did all those Gods/Goddesses go? Were they real? You could say they were just statues of things people believed in and nothing else. But why exactly was the water Goddess statue built on Mallet Island, a place where 1) It is surrounded by water, being an Island (Convenient for the Goddess' supposed power) and 2) A place that is centred right near a massive Hell-Gate. It's a bit ironic don't you think?

And Asmodaius makes a very valid point. How exactly were the demons planning on shaping/imaging themselves as angels if angels didn't exist? That's like me attempting to try and make myself look like a vampire instead of a human, if the concept of vampires hadn't of been created. It doesn't logically make sense for something to try and mould into or impersonate something that is non-existent.

you can try to look like a vampire but there is no evidence vampires exist(if an actual vampire does show up it would probably look compleatly different but that isn't really important ). wait, that means you can try to look like something that isn't real. why wouldn't demons be able to do the same (try to look like what they think angels would look like)

Well, graphics have improved a lot as we can see (looks amazing now)....the thing about half demon half angel, I don't know, could be a proof that this is indeed a reboot not prequel.
I don't know about that theory...haven't watched DMC news a while....is this confirmed?

Hopfully they finally 100% confirm that this is a reboot with NOTHING to do with the DMC original story.

They have had to many incluclusive interviews where in 1 they calll it a reboot and in another they call it a prequel or origin story.

Its seems as if they are messing with the fans heads.

I hope they confirm soon that this is a reboot and has NOTHING to do with the original DMC story because
1.It would clear alot of confusion among the internet. A good amount of fans seems to think its a reboot while the other seems to think its a prequel to DMC3.

and

2.I hope this is a reboot and has nothing to do with the DMC story for obvious reasons. Not only is the story not looking to good so far but having Dante a half angel would retcon alot of things in the DMC story if this was a prequel to DMC3 which really would p!ss me off.

I asked if the theory of half demon half angel was confirmed not some explanation of this being a reboot or not....know something on that?
It's pretty clear now that this is a reboot.

Yes its confirmed.

The half angel half demon thing will play a major part in the storyline and gameplay.

You will have a angel meter and a demon meter.

Hi guys, girls, and evertying inbetween! I've been lurking this forum for a while, and decided I finally had something I'd like to contribute. lol

Dante is half angel, half demon. My first reaction was, "Looks like we're going to a giant WTF BBQ!" I know and I understand that this is a reboot/origin story/retelling/etc. of Dante, but making him half angel shows a deviation from the original story that was, at first, very unsettling. I thought about it for a while and came up with why I honestly cannot, initially, warm up to many of the new DmC's concepts.

Tameem Antionades.

Yes, it's unfair to pin any "blame" (a term I use loosely) on one person, but if you think about it, a good deal of the skepticism for this game does center around Tameem. I've been a Dante fangirl for about ten years, bought the original DMC right after I graduated high school, and loved his badass, cocky attitude. Even though I thought his outfit looked like a rejected concept for Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album, I loved it. It was as if by wearing that outfit Dante was saying, "I look stupid, but I don't give a f---!" or, "I dare you to make fun of my red coat." He's a video game character. Video game characters can pull off wearing ridiculous outfits. Fast forward to now, and we have Tameem stating, "Dante was cool, but he's not cool anymore." Every time I hear this man speak, I want to punch him in the face and instantly think, "he's an unrepentant douchebag and his ideas are gonna suck."

Here's where I'm going with this. Dante always has been half human/demon. Making him half angel/demon is like they're saying that him being human is just not "cool." What we like about Dante, is not "cool."
Capcom has every right to change this character as they see fit; hair, clothing, biology, and attitude. However the attitude of one man is ruining my opinion of the direction they're taking this game. Does that make my opinion stupid, flawed, and illogical? Absolutely. I readily admit that I have no basis or backup for my claims. It's just how I feel.

At this point, all any of us can do is play the waiting game. I'm skeptical, but I'm also going into this with an open mind. I'd love to see Ninja Theory take this story and make it incredible, and I'd love to see them make an amazing game. I'm not gonna hate on a game I haven't even played yet.

Finally one skeptic with open mind....
Welcome :)

Just want to throw in my 2 cents since I'm tired of remaining silent...we don't know the story..and it's something that can very EASILY be explained into the original story...if it's done right, it can be beautiful...if it's not, then NT needs to work on story telling...but right now we know next to nothing and it's stupid to argue, especially since it's FICTION!

Yeah I know, I mean you 'can' look like something that doesn't technically exist. I'm just saying, Credo was trying to appear like an angel right? He portrayed himself in his form as 'angelic' and with powers and wings. I mean if you were trying to dress like a vampire or an alien you'd most likely stick to images and ideas you've seen before. When demons were trying to imitate angels, Capcom showed them in that manner.

what the hell is wrong with u ppl how is dante being half angel makes sense so an angel and a demon= a human formed emo punk.
and angels dont have heart they are just good in nature they dont have the well to change hearts they are just like demons in that case its what they are and being half human maybe the reason behind his powers humans poses lots of power but they cant manifest it like demons dantes demon part helps with that dont try to sell that angel bullshit to me

To add on to what you say, DMC or DmC or however hell you want to write it, is a fictional universe. Yes we assume that it takes place in our world, but really anything can be, as in, what is common knowledge to us may not be even an inkling of an idea in their world. However, in order for you to pretend to be something or disguise yourself as something, it has to exist some way in a concept. Even if angels aren't physically in the game, the concept of an angel exists, by definition, from Credo disguising himself as such. I'm not saying anything about preconceived notions or what is "generally" seen as an angel. What i'm describing is kind of like imaginary friends. They don't physically exist, yes, but if you have one or have had one, you had the idea of it and therefore, it as a concept existed. In respect to what i've posted earlier in this comment about common knowledge in our universe vs the game's, we can't make assumptions of powers or alignment or anything. I'm sorry, but we can't just look at the game through religious eyes. We have to keep in mind that the game is a work of fiction, so therefore what applies to us doesn't necessarily apply to them. Angels in this game can be just as evil as demons (though I don't think this to be the case). I shall not repost anything I've stated in comments above. I just want to make note that anything is possible, more so in fiction, and that NT can VERY WELL find a way to tie this concept (especially since it's about an angel form and NOT Dante being physically half angel) into the original series if that's what they're trying/wanting to do. To deny it is just ignorant (by the ACTUAL definition of the word, NOT society's messed up taboo on the usage of it).
