Dante Gave Up Smoking / No Lock on :S

I'm not sure if any one really knows it yet, and like its not such a HUGE point. Though I just thought I'd tell you guys just in case that at 6:27 Tameem says "btw at this point in the game Dante has given up smoking"

The game looks pretty great so far :D I love how the boss battles are so long 3 life bars 0_0!
I hope there are plenty of bosses and not just few though cause Im pretty sure somewhere on the interview with the "Poison Boss" Alex (black guy director forgot his last name ) says that the part was 1/3 into the game. I mean if only 1 boss was matched off in that time :S i hope there just isnt 4 or 5 bosses. I mean DMC 3 had multiple bosses .

Furthermore, It was also said in the interview that there is no lock on, its more of an automatic lock on system because NT thinks that the lock on breaks the paste i think he said? Though i was thinking how would they do that move with bring the enemy up and wouldn't that make the move list less?

The lock on was removed because it would be very difficult to change weapons while holding the lock on button. Other moves like stinger and performed with forward forward action, which isn't all that difficult once you get familiar with it.

I'm skilled at devil may cry anyway. So i'm pretty sure removing the lock on is not such a big deal, for me at least.

From the early appearances of Dante, and with Tameem saying that "by this point" sort of implies that a sudden change happens Dante quite early in the game, perhaps during the prologue, where it sets up a little of his backstory. Perhaps He starts off looking like He did back in the TGS launch trailer, the battered, frail looking Dante due to the many years of Demon capture and torture, but escapes or is rescued by The Order, and decides to clean up his appearance, hence the hair cut and no smoking.

As for High time, NT have squashed R1, back and Y into simply pressing B once.

I think lock on actually makes sometimes the combat worse especially when there's whole bunch of enemies ...

So the lock on is automatic which means you can´t lock on a enemy you want?

I'm confused. How would lock- on break the pace?

Anyways, I tried to play DMC 3 without using lock- on and used Prop Shredder as my launcher. It allowed more freedom of movement, but it felt more natural just using lock- on. I'm pretty sure, though, that it'll be an easy transition when I play DmC.

the thing though is that DMC3, or specifically the moves in all the pervious games, were made with lock on in mind. The way DmC and DMC are made in terms sounds similar but are actually very different. If nobody understood i'll try to explain. Basically the moves from each game is more or less the same, i.e stinger, but how they were done, or executed, are what's different. If you played any previous DMC game without lock-on the game would feel very imcomplete and weird. But with DmC, which is made without the lock-on, every move is can be performed without such a function and all the styles were incoperated into the main 3 styles.

That probably wasn't the best explanation but it's the only one i can think of right now i'm sure someone else can put it better.

I guess it would okay if I add something to your explanation.

The original idea for DMC, considering it is Resident Evil- born, is that it's a game of keep- away. Stinger, Helm Breaker, and other moves/weapons with a large knockback were meant to push back enemies and keep them away from you. Once you get rid of a group of enemies, you can focus on a single target by locking on to him. Locking on was also important because you can lock- on to the closest target and knock him back. Which makes the contrast between DMC and DmC that much greater since DmC is more focused on fighting at close ranges against multiple enemies and moves with large knockbacks have their launch distances recovered by the use of grapplings. Ultimately, Locking on would be more of a hindrance in this game.

nice addition railazel, you guys are making some very valid points. :)

YES! I'm actually glad that the Lock-on has been removed.
With the HD collection, I found it very difficult to keep my finger pressed on the 'lock on' button. (Especially on the 360 controller). So I'm glad it's gone.
I think it was obvious that Dante had given up the cigs, or else there would've been more trailers with him smoking.
But, now it's his fighting that's 'smoking', so, it's better for his health :P
