Co-op in Devil May Cry

Should the DMC series introduce co-op anytime soon?

NO!
I will not let Devil May Cry go the Resident Evil route! DMC is one of the few good single player games out there! No multiplayer or co-op will be welcomed by the likes of me! No sir.

Actually, co-op has been something that the RE fanbase has wanted for some time, but you know the saying - "Be careful what you wish for"

I think it would be very hard to implement co-op in a Devil May Cry game, but my idea for co-op would be a one on one match where one person plays as Dante or another DMC hero and the other player plays as a boss and the two just fight to the death.

What about a Demon Hunter Hunt Mode like Resident Evil 6 Agent Hunt mode where you play as a demon where you try to kill the player (Dante/Nero/etc)...it'll be awesome to be a Frost or Blitz and Kill Dante.

Well that's basically what I said, you could include lesser demons. As long as one player is a devil hunter and the other player is a demon.

Really? I must be more detached from the RE community than I thought.
Co-op has literally ruined that series. It takes away all tension and anything that can seem remotely scary. Even Dead Space is going this route. Multiplayer is ruining gaming!

Multiplayer has been with gaming for decades and I think the first game was multiplayer (that ping pong thingy). Multiplayer isn't ruining anything its how companies chooses to utilize it.

Let me elaborate.
I don't enjoy forced or gimmicky multiplayer. Games like Halo do multiplayer well without shoving it down my throat.

However, the co-op feature in Resident Evil 5 and 6 is integral to the gameplay and even the story! I'm sorry, but in any context, having a partner with you at all times, whether someone else is playing with you or not, is not scary or horrifying.
The A.I. is dumber than a bag of nails too.Sheva in Resident Evil 5 would get stuck on walls, waste ammo, waste valuable herbs, and even stop working entirely.
At one point, she literally just stopped moving. Nothing I could do would take her out of this supposed trance. The only way to make the game bearable is too have a friend play with you. It's then, you realize how un-Resident Evil the series has become.

In Resident Evil 6, the game is built around co-op. I can't start a damn game unless the game asks about... internet settings? For a Resident Evil game?

I have a feeling that if Devil May Cry incorporated a multiplayer aspect, it would be incredibly gimmicky like God of War: Ascensions multiplayer.

The time, money, and effort spent making co-op could be used to make a better single player mode.
Are you denying Uncharted 3 the best third person action title I have ever played ( not taking hack n slash into account cause it's actually different genre :P ) ?

There is enough time and money, it's only an excuse for lazyness and lack of inspiration, btw RE6 co-op is awesome, unlike RE5 or FEAR 3 :)

However for the first title it should be strictly single player and when you have the solid foundation from the first game, you can invest more money into co-op and multiplayer modes.

Once again Uncharted series is the best example: U1 - solid single player, U2 - excellent single player and good multiplayer, U3 - excellent single player, multiplayer and split screen.

and these games came in 4 years so it doesn't even need that much time, just the right people ^_^

I don't think he denied anything.
Besides, I wouldn't agree Uncharted had the best SP experience anyway. I believe that title would go to something like Max Payne.

Multiplayer is not ruining it, it's the companies themselves. They need to attract more people to their games, so they make them more action oriented so more people could buy them. Besides, there are tons of games (such as Uncharted and Resistance) that have tastefully put co-op into the action

I should also add to this that the people that hopped on the RE train after RE4 came out (like myself) were the ones that wanted co-op (the "softcore" fans as I like to call it :) ).

Why would people want more games like RE 1-3 anyways, they wouldn't even be that scary, for example FEAR 3 isn't scary and it uses all of the old tricks from RE 1-3. The lack of ammo doesn't make me scared it makes me frustrated and angry because I missed so many shots >_<
And the tank controls..that ruined RE5 not the fact that it became an action title instead of a survival horror...

Games like Amnesia:The Dark Descent are scary, I even get goosebumps from watching funny walkthroughs of that game :|

I just don't get the same feeling when I have guns and I can kill zombies, it's like killing demons but with zombies instead and without Rebellion :D

Anyways why do you old school RE fans bitch so much about RE6? I've played the Leon campaign now for about 3-4 hours with my friend and we are having so much fun.^_^ Would you rather see RE franchise turn into a series of identical games with minor skin differences like Call of Duty:/

Co-op isn't helping the decline of Resident Evil. I like Co-op. But for me, it shouldn't belong in a survival horror game.
I explain it quite well in my other post.

Well this is something that can't be argued, 'cause it's a matter of taste + I was only half serious, I know what Azurel means and even agree with him, however there are many exceptions so you can't just generalize everything.

My point is that Co-op or multiplayer doesn't ruin games it's the people behind the games that ruin them.

To me Max Payne is just bullet timing everything which was at the time entertaining, still nothing more than that, and believe me I know, Remedy is the biggest game developer from Finland second only to Rovio.

If you want good horror games try Alan Wake or Amnesia

Well, first off, RE6 is crap compaired to RE4, a game that is now 8 years old. There are alot of very aged machanics in 4 but somehow the game still manages to be the best in the series.

6 is frustrating, clunky, unresponsive and unbalanced in alot of places. I've gotten so ****ed playing 6 because it's rediculiously unbalanced.

Yeah, but the games were scary back then. It's not us wanting to keep the games exactly how they were back when the PS1 was king, it's about keeping what made them addictive. The scares, the puzzels, the 80's action movie dialougue, the creatures, the villans. There is more to a game than gameplay, if there wasn't people wouldn't preffer DMC to Bayonetta.

Now, I agree that RE isn't the scarriest franchise anymore, wasn't the scariest when it was still a horror game, but it had a personality that other games didn't. You could tell it was a RE game by just seeing the gameplay and characters... Well, Silent Hill had similar gameplay, but it's not exactly hard to tell them apart, what with the distinct music and unique creature designs in Silent Hill.

Interesting story. A friend of mine borrowed my copy of RE4 but was unable to finish the game do to a heart condition. He told me the game was too scary and was putting to much pressure on his heart.

We bitch because it isn't a RE title. It's a cover shooter with a RE skin. Nothing wrong with progress, but if they can't keep the rest of it intact then it's not really that

@berto
I do agree that RE4 was the best in the series, however that was already a drastic change from RE 1-3. RE5 is the worst that much I agree... I haven't played the other (RE6) campaigns, so maybe the other ones are crap or maybe you just have your own reasons for hating the game, we will see...

But as I said before ..try some other good survival horror games, Amnesia is the scariest I've seen, cause you die easily, you must deal without weapons and your character can become insane if he spends too much time in the dark, also there's a limited amount of tinderboxes and oil, so you must always save some just in case...

Alan Wake is also great, kinda the game that Alone in the Dark (5) should have been, even vehicles attack you, you can't kill enemies without flashlight, and your batteries can run out ...

Dead Space might suit you as well ..

Stay away from F.E.A.R. that's crap.

I've also heard that Doom 3 is pretty scary, haven't played though..
