Co-op in Devil May Cry

Should the DMC series introduce co-op anytime soon?

The Mad Man
I first played DMC3 back in December of 2006, which I got for my eleventh birthday. I still remember having to share this game with my younger brother and it was dreadfully annoying. If you died, you had to give it up, and, of course, we died a lot. We never liked having to share this game because we had different gameplay styles, I preferred Agni and Rudra, he liked Beowulf, I only liked the Royalguard style, my brother couldn't function in game without the Trickster dash.
It was really annoying, but, the only time we could play co-op was during the Arkham boss battle, when Vergil enters the fray. We would purposely die on that part for hours on end just to play cooperatively. I'm sixteen years old, I share my PS3 with my, now, two younger brothers who are dying to play DmC just as much as I am.
Do you think that future installations of DMC should have cooperative features? Should the story be playable by two players? Or should the only two player segment be in a certain part similar to DMC3? Finally, should the game mode "Bloody Palace" have the two player mode I have long desired?

HO HO HO this is a good idea dante and vergil working together would be the perfect way to introduce co op, nice work mega

Look at God of War 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 though.

They've got multiplayer down.

But I guess it would be sort of a sh-tstorm trying to out-style your teammate in a DMC game.

There are way too many variables to shuffle out before introducing any co-op, but it could work. I just don't see how.

It worked with Doppleganger mode in Bloody Palace. Outside of that, you would need a splitscreen or a seperate screen.

It barely worked, but it worked well enough there, due to the fact that it was a big open space. The camera angles made impossible to see the second character in the main game.

I wouldn't mind a mode where you would play co-op. But I would like my story mode to stay one player for many different reasons.

It also depends on the co-op type. Is it over the internet or system link only? Or is it split screen? Or just one screen? I personally hate the last one because if, for example, my partner wants to go left and I want to go right then we wouldn't be able to do so because the camera only pans out so much.

Anyway, DmC is one player only, it has already been stated and it won't change at this point. Maybe for later games.

Man, DMC3 Coop was awesome, even though you had to go through hell and back to get the super costume so you could play it correctly..., well that was in the original DMC3 not the Special Edition, where it got easier^^
I personally wouldn't mind an optional coop bloody palace, could be fun!
I'm really excited to see what types of modes we will get!

DMC3 had co-op?

Yeah in the second half of the Arkham Boss Battle if you activate the second controller and press "start" the 2nd player could control Vergil like how in Sonic Adventure when playing as Sonic and Tails is around the 2nd player could control Tails.

Also whenever the player uses Doppleganger style and go DT with it and the Dante doppleganger appears the second player could do the same thing and control the doppleganger. Whether it was intentional by Capcom devs or an error/glitch its there.

all that being said if they do ever think about introducing co op then theyve gotta tread lightly. the goal of dmc is to max out ur style while fighting hordes of demons. this can be awkward if you and ur partner are getting in eachothers way as your fighting. a boss is one thing but if ur fighting regular old joes then ull find ur ruining eachothers combos and getting in the way as while ur doing one set of moves to take care of you opponents ur partner does the same therefore awkward clash.

if they do want to bring it in theyll need combo moves. so if ur near ur partner the two of you can combine attacks to dish out extra damage or over a wider range. and even then.....

THere are ways to work that in into the combat, you get extra for co op attacks and enough enemies to go around.

Why not? I just think they shouldn't go full campaign co-op, but start with a separate mode so they can test it out, see the players feedback, and then improve it if they want a co-op campaign.

DMC3 had co-op?
Yes it did, but for only one mission, and that was mission 19. During the second half of the boss battle against Arkham when Vergil enters, you can enter a second controller and after you press start, player two plays as Vergil for that segment.
My brother and I would purposely die on that part for hours just to play co-op in DMC3

yh this is the first ive heard of this too
