Clarifications about Vergil's Downfall

Foxtrot94

So, as much as I understood, in this DLC Vergil basically gets more and more power as he goes deeper into Hell. And he loses more and more of his humanity too, cutting his bounds with Kat, Dante and his mother. Am I right?
Also, what exactly happened in the ending? Did he gain so much power to become the new Demon King?

Ok, thx. Do you guys think he now has the power to beat Dante? Cause I feel like new Vergil was so underpowered to Dante... not much of a challenge for him.
I'm not sure.

Vergil now has more power on his demonic side, but Dante has more power in a different way. While Vergil broke all ties to be more powerful, I guess Dante could draw strength from the people he cares about. So he would have a power different to Vergil but still able to challenge him.

It's like DMC4 Dante said about humans being physically weak compared to a demon, but they have a different power that demons don't. I guess what he was referring to there was human strength of heart and bonds with people that demons couldn't understand.

So while Vergil might now have more raw demonic power than Dante, he also cast away the other side of his heritage to do it, leaving him vulnerable in a way that Dante isn't.
