i know that its been hours since i joined. so i can not make any judgments about the forum you know if it is dead or not. but i have realized that there are 7,855 members joined since the begining and i only see 19 members online.

so if i can have permission to give my ideas to make the forum better i will be glad to give you my mind.

Sadly not everyone is in a timezone that means that there are hundreds online at a time.

Admittedly alot of the inactive members may have joined on a whym, but there are still many many highly active users - :D

This forum...is far from dead! ^___^

i don't have any exp in running a forum but from my point of view it is the same as running a factory.

if you want your factory to produce more then you have to awake your employees challenging spirit. by offering allowance to those who work hard or give them a promotion. the same thing in the forum if you want them to be active you have to awake that spirit by creating some contests, and annonceing the MOTW (member of the week), SOTW (sig of the week), AOTW (admin of the week), TGPOTW (the gold pen of the week) and create medals.

medal of honor for the best artist, medal of honor for the best writer, medal of honor for the best staff, medal of shame for those who broke the rules.

make a page of fame where you can see a list of all who got the medals of honor and medals of shame.

True, but at the same time on a themed forum such as this it will be difficult since DMC's hype will slowly fade until info about DMC5 comes out...

MOTW is a great idea, but apart from rep there is little that can be given to the winner...

We cant really have AOTW cuz we only have 3, but i understand why you think this is a dead forum, but it isnt, we are a small(comapred to some others) community that get along, IMO

The boards have times of huge activity followed by periods of not much going on at all for various reasons - it's the way of the forum, sadly. Were we a dedicated web design, SEO or iVillage type place then there would be far more activity due to the wider variety of possible subjects to discuss.

Now that DMC4 has been out for a while there will be, as already mentioned, a lull until more stuff about DMC 5 or whatever else related comes out.

Those are some good ideas and devilmaycry will be taking a look at them later on today (I sound like his P.A....that is so sad...) - so far the only rewards here are for those who become premium members - over at projectego.net we have modding badges, editor badges and something else badges which escapes me right now...so to implement a similar idea here would be pretty beneficial.

Not to mention that everyone loves badges. Even the people who say they don't.

I think the forum is well as it is. It never was one of these forums that every time you refresh the page, some new posts appear. (Actually there was a time that this happened, but the only posts where spam and stuff:P). So personally I'm happy as it is.

PS: Badges ftw:P

Lol thats the spirit!

Admittedly however with the number of active members around daily, it would only take a few months for the majority of highly frequent members to have the badges...

Perhaps a 'Quote of the Week'? For the funniest or most curious post (or segment?)...it could be placed in an Announcement for all to see lol, and a badge with QotW and the Date could be affixed to the profile along with a link/the quote in question?
