Betrayal

if it does go the whole serious fight between the two...then its probabaly over munduss crown/ power/ place as demon god. Vergil wud want it to better improve the world by keeping demons in line. while dante disagrees...one thing to another and pow. fight.

or as i hope, they save the fight for a game of its own. so the fight is more like a bonus or a dmc banter filled with blood pizza and laughter.

I guess this, because if you go back to the Vergil's reveal trailer, he really does give Dante this sinister look as he walks ahead just after his "we have to put lives into each other's hands" speech, as if he's assuring Dante whatever goes down he's got his back.

I never fully comprehended the term "a sinister gleam in his eye" until I saw that scene. Yes, put your life in Vergil's hands completely, Dante. Don't mind that strangling sensation around your neck.

I think that after Mundus is taken care of they have a important decision to make and one is a lot more radical and will most likely take a lot of lives(probably kat too if she's not killed off earlier) while the other is more difficult but safer. Like seal(or kill) away demons forever but kill a bunch of humans in the process or continue to watch the demons and take care of the important ones that cause the most problems. Virgil chooses the radical route and they fight about it.

I think Vergil is using Dante for his own personal gain. He wants to use Dante to weaken or destroy the leading demons in Mundus' army and take Mundus on himself. I can picture one or two things happening. Vergil ends up helping Dante during the fight (like arkham), or he will fight against mundus before Dante and lose. Upon Dante's defeat of Mundus they will fight over an unspecified power and Vergil will seal himself or go to limbo/hell. OR Vergil will become magically seperated from Dante and Dante will face against and destroy Mundus and Vergil will fight Dante after Mundus' defeat.

This is all speculation. My most accurate prediction will probably be:

Vergil becomes a dinosaur unicorn and attacks Dante, but Dante has the true power of the unicorn and defeats Vergil with rainbows and butterflies.

Going with the theme in classic DMC of the Arkham wanting Sparda's power, or bad guys wanting demonic power in general, and that new video for DmC saying that Sparda is locked away somewhere, they could fall out over Sparda's power, or who is the true successor to the legacy.
The fight could be like Vergil testing Dante to see if he is worthy of Sparda's power.

Or maybe it's Dante starting the fight over something Vergil does. I could see him doing that if Kat is involved.
In fact, in DMC 3, wasn;t it said that Sparda locked the demon world with a human priestess' blood? Kat is a medium psychic, so she has some magical power. Going along those thoughts, what if Vergil wants to sacrifice Kat to lock away the demons?

you see here its inherintly different from the get go. unlike the original DMC series, Sparda is not the most powerful demon in all of existence. Mundus is, as such the Arkham story of DMC3 really doesnt work as you'd still be second best. so i dont think that'll be a factor. perhaps when they see sparda he'll give dante his force edge and vergil gets all jealous...but i hope not. thatd be lame...

im still all for it being a play fight at the end. save the heavy backstabbing and Dante vs Vergil stuff for another game. it took an enitre game last time. i hope NT shows it the same respect.

they could pull a lady and vergil wanna sacrifice cat to free sparda so he can get more power like using spardas sword for majiin form while dante views kat as more important they fight etc etc

And it's like he's thinking "it's all going to plan...bwahaha!"
Vergil is giving off some Light Yagami vibes there, I will admit.

But I don't think Vergil will "stab Dante in the back."
I think they will come to a heavy disagreement which leads to their ultimate duel.
After neither can reign supreme over the other in the fight, they give up and part ways for awhile.
That is it until Vergil conceives his plan from Devil May Cry 3.

Now, what will their dispute be over? Maybe about a new character who we all know and already love, Kat.
I doubt she'll live, especially considering the rumors of who she's named after, Saint Catherine.

I believe Kat's death will be caused ultimately by the hands of the twins.
Either because they couldn't save her, had a blatant disregard for her life, or if one of the brothers, Vergil of course, had killed her. Why? Well for several possible reasons, even just getting in the way.

The point being, her death will serve as Dante's moral compass.
As opposed to a duel with Mundus, Lilith, her child, or even Vergil, the true climax will be her death because it will be in my vision the turning point that changes all the characters, particularly Dante. The rest is either rising or falling action.
