About Kat :/

Well she s the only possible victim.

But on another hand Dante protects her all the time, if he ends up failing I'm not sure it would motivate him to create DMC. He would kinda be depressed. Kat and Vergil are all he got. We already know he'll lose Vergil so...
 
None of the female main characters die in previous games, but seeing as the story now is completely redone by Tameem and people at NT then there is a high possibility that she will die, like claus said, adds to the drama.
 
Anyone could die at the end of this game, really. Except maybe Vergil, unless that DLC is a record of what happened to him before his demise.

It seems like Kat will at least come very close to dying.

Because they are unimportant for Dante, either Trish and Lady are not relevant to Dante's personality development. Important ones died, such as his mom.

Hmm? They are pretty relevant. Lady was the one that made him actually get serious and settle the score with his brother in DMC3 (see conversation the had after you fight her), and Trish was even more relevant, to the point that made Dante cry over her.

only marginal impact on Dante.

Dante's personality in 1,3 and 4 are well established.
Either woman is not gonna to affect it. But, Kat is very different.
She keeps Dante human.

You mean 2,3,4. Because Dante in DMC1 goes from a one liner jester to a drama queen... and then back to a one liner jester at the very end.

But I agree, the game's overall story is a bit more in-depth than the others anyway, so it seems we will see more of Dante's connection to Kat. I mean, he seemed really ****ed when the demons took her by the way he talked to Vergil and telling Lilith that "I don't have time for this bs!"
 
Lady had a pretty large impact on him actually. She was the one who helped him cope with dealing with his brother, and help him keep a grip on his human-side.. She's the one who gave him the entire philosophy that humans can be just as bad as demons, while demons can be just as good as humans.

She even gave him the idea for the name of his shop.

That would be so depressing :'( think of it, Dante loses Vergil and Kat dies, leaving him the lone survivor and on his again like before. And then, you're just left this cold, long silence as this achievement pops up in the top right hand of the screen:

'Who else will I have icecream with?'

Honestly I hope Kat lives, because she is one of my favorite characters and I'd be happy if she just went on her merry way at the end. But at the same time, if they did it right then I could accept her dying in the game as well. I would cry, that's all I know right now. If it could happen, it's a 50/50 deal. She's not with Dante or Vergil when we see them at the end of the Vergil reveal trailer, so if that means she's dead by then or stayed behind, who knows.
 
I doubt Kat will die. She'd probably be the one to guide Dante after Mundus has been taken care of and Vergil is gone. Then again I don't want her to die, anyway. I wouldn't call her my favorite, but since she's the one that's kept Dante more human I really don't want to see what would happen if she was killed. I'm sure that, for Dante, it would be like losing his mother again.

If she dies, does this mean we're getting Lady or Trish in the next game?
Yep, that's the part I give the **** about, that shows JUST HOW BORING Kat is.

If he does, I have the feeling the scene would be done much better with the voice talent of Tim Phillips and with a much better orchestral score.

The other one, seemed like it was for the lulz.

You didn't. You did not just bring that tear jerking moment into this thread in front of a KH fanboy.:'(

Also I hope Kat lives since she is what's keeping Dante human and not go off the deep end in becoming some demon. Also I don't want the old female cast to come back, only for them to be as useless as they were after their first appearances. After Lady got revenge she was really just Dante's pimp. After Mallet Island, Trish went off on her own and just comes and goes.

I just hope if Kat is still alive that she have more use then the manikins that can move.:/
