I disagree. Nero's F bomb has at least some proper context and character, being an expression of pent up rage and frustration towards his inconsiderate father. DmC Dante's F bomb scene was none of that, but merely a juvenile attempt to try and make him look and sound contemporarily cool with no subtext or context at all. It was just awkward.

I think his point was more so like “Not everything DmC did was wrong”.

Surely you must’ve liked something about the game.

If that was his point I don't think he picked the right comparison to back it up. I mean Nero ain't new to swearing, but at least in his case there's some context that makes it not sound forced and awkward, whether it is him cursing Sanctus for kidnapping and using his girl, or in this case, bursting out in a fit of long built up frustration against his dad in a climactic fight.

Whereas in DmC's case, I don't think even the actual fans of that game can claim the "F you" exchange between Dante and the Succubus was contextualized in any way other than trying to make Dante look like he's cool cause he can take on a swear contest against a demon.

It's not about overall liking the game or not, it's just comparing the two scenes, point being that just cause they're similar doesn't mean they're also handled, or come across in, the same way. Maybe I wasn't clear enough.

I just think he meant people can stop being nit picky about things. You don’t seem to give much if any praise to DmC. My point is it couldn’t have been THAT bad surely. I get your other points but don’t have the energy to reply to them.

The whole swearing thing in DmC was just trying too hard to be cool. I agree with that. But the game did do some things right. I’m sure you’d agree?

To give more context, I didn't mean situations in which the F bomb is thrown. I meant the series using the F bomb period and how fans use to complain up a and down that Devil May Cry would never use such language.

They bastardized DmC for that and yet forgot that Dante dropped an F bomb in the anime and Nero recently dropping another one in DMC5.

Pretty sure DMC 5 has a lot more swearing than just Nero dropping 1 F bomb.

Lambasting NuDante's use of swear words without acknowledging his own context but giving Nero a pass is highly disingenuous methinks. If anything, Nero's completely over-the-top middle finger pose and f-bomb during the final fight totally ruined all dramatic tension in that scene for me. :/
