So will it be set in the MCU or not? I'm kinda hoping it is, that way I can call Venom the MCU's first R-Rated movie. Plus it'll give me hope that Deadpool's movies will continue to be R-Rated, as well as possible Wolverine movies (I'm not saying every movie has to be R-Rated now, but they're amazing when done right)

I do wonder how they would go about explaining Venom if they couldn't get the rights to use Spider-Man.

I'm okay with them changing Venom's origin a bit, not to directly include Spider-Man. Similar to how they changed Deadpool's origin slightly in the movie (In the comics, Deadpool has a healing factor because they used Wolverine's DNA. In the movie it was a serum to awaken dormant mutant genes)
