We're going to have Star Wars movies every year for all time. "Milking" no longer describes the exhaustive abuse Disney's doing to this franchise. ...exclusive rights to video games being handed over to EA, and you have the picture perfect nightmare of everything that the franchise could suffer. And what's worse, instead of making a movie out of something like KOTOR or the Old Sith...we're getting crap like a 'Jabba the Hutt' movie. Why? Because "everything about the OG Trilogy is perf, and everything else is **** or non-canon." Thanks, LFL.

They just cash in on nostalgy feelings. :/ They can't care less about spinoffs and what fans want. Disney is gonna run this franchise along with marvel into the ground.

What's worse is that I was never bred on any kind of nostalgia; I had all six movies, and a wealth of novels & comics. I got into Star Wars because of how intricately-detailed and ever-evolving it was: something new and original was happening constantly. All of that is completely absent from Disney's approach.

They're taking the most unoriginal, suffocatingly-safe with every aspect of the SW brand. It's all "OG Trilogy" or bust with them, even though they fail to realize that what made that trilogy worth watching was all the new & wondrous elements that we'd never seen...a failure they continue to compound by recycling ideas WE'VE ALREADY SEEN BEFORE.

Huge corporations don't buy famous anything to love it and nurture it just the right way, they want to milk it till it drops dead, and with blind devotion of modern generations it's gonna be a long way from now till that cow stops giving. Continued...

The following thing feels kinda strange to say on a fandom-oriented forum, but maybe the problem isn't so much in them, as it is in us, treating what is supposed to be simple entertainment as a pseudo-religion till it becomes shackles chaining us to one painful place, unable to move on.

I agree. Than again Disney has almost religious imortance for some people, so no wonder they using it :/

@Viper The problem isn't that people like me are taking Star Wars too seriously, beyond its simplicity. The franchise has always ridden on simplistic archetypes veiled by estranging worlds, mythology and space politics. The difference is that before Disney, it was simple BUT it was also imaginative, and probed the boundaries of creativity and originality.

Now, the stories/characters/aesthetics are so procedural and uninspired, without any of the talent or creativity involved in the original saga or EU. If wishing to have that back, for SW to retain a standard of quality that isn't this vapid repetition of past films, makes me a "religious fanatic of a fan", then by all means: consider my cross rooted in the ground.
