A lot of the characters look better in Story mode then their regular models.

Nah they look the same. It's just that in the story mode you get certain camera angles that highlight the characters better.

I meant the 2D cutscenes compared to the 3D models. Karin and Cammy's faces just look weird now.

When I say story mode, I mean the newly released one, not the half baked character stories we got at launch. That's the only place where the 2D drawing are.
I'm referring to the real story mode, the one released two days ago via DLC for free. There's no drawings there, it's all 3D animated in the game engine, just like, say, Mortal Kombat.

Well, it was known from even before the release that SF5 would get a proper story mode.
