Now the fandom has to buy 4SE to show that they want DMC5? At least 3SE added Jester as a boss. 4SE didn't improve-- Dante STILL can't fight Angelo Credo outside of BP. They didn't even go for the low-hanging fruit of making a Gloria fight. Where's the proof that DMC5 won't fall into the same "rushed job" trap that the original DMC4 fell into, and this "Taste the Rainbow" recoloring-as-incentive thing of the 4SE?

I know all that. And I'm sorry. However, I'm not going to change my stance on it. Capcom doesn't have to make a DMC5. Besides, if the fandom were really all that angry about this, they would've gone and bought a WiiU with Bayonetta 2 instead.

Some have -- most haven't. That's just the way it is. Fans will buy DMC4SE of course, and yes, I agree that this is still a rushed job, but it's still up to Capcom whether or not they decide ot actually make a DMC5.

If fans were angry, DMC4 wouldn't have gone triple plat. Capcom should've paid attention to that instead of now hanging the "idea of DMC5" over the fandom's heads and urging fans to buy the SE to "show their support" as if DMC4 bombed. It didn't. Fans did their part . It's up to Capcom to actually deliver on the quality of their games and show something worth paying for instead of running off of hype.

^ Agreed.

Capcom needs to be held accountable on this. "Not enough people bought the last game" is no excuse, otherwise they would have stopped at DMC3 -- neither it nor the 3SE outsold DMC2 as individual titles. Instead they kept going regardless of immediate sales and made the 4th game.

It's not up to the fans to toss money at a product in the hopes of MAYBE getting another product, only to toss money at that too. That's like pre-pre-ordering except even dumber, because no one has ever successfully reserved a copy of the next installment in a series just by buying the previous one. Capcom should not pretend that's the case.

No one's asking you to toss money. The fans are doing it of their own free will. If you want to start a boycott, you can also do that too.

But there's absolutely nothing from stopping Capcom from using this as leverage. It might make a few fans out there angry, but it's still going to happen.

But you just said Capcom is trying to boost sales by saying "the future of DMC" depends on it, so they're urging fans to buy it, banking on the idea of DMC5 being enough to line their pockets. They don't even know if they're making DMC5 or not, but they're going to make it look like they are just for the money. That sounds like "free will" to you?

There's still nothing to say they haven't actually got DMC 5 in mind, which I guess is where Vergilius is coming from here. But I do see your angle also and do agree that it's not exactly a fair way to make money as they're practically attempting to lure you in on (as it currently stands) basically nothing.

Well... yeah. The fans don't have to buy it. Capcom can sell the product, but it's up to the fans whether or not they want to buy it. No matter what the reason. If Capcom were robbing these people through on-disc DLC, that would be another story. But they're not. Not this time, anyway.

Capcom is merely selling a product. Fans are choosing to buy it. No matter what the reason is behind the actual sales, this is all that's happening. Nothing more.

That's because we have no physical releases outside of Japan. Coincidence? :p I'm being facetious here, but I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case.

Oh, right. Yeah, Lord of Darkness, that's where I was coming from.

If you don't have physical sales, then you don't have to worry about used game sales. I'm against digital-only, but that's the reality we live in.

I've decided to work around it, but I can't talk about that here -- it's against the rules.

DMC 5 could be a possibility. Though is it right of Capcom to expect us to buy the game based on the principle that "buy DMC 4:SE = a future for DMC". No, of course not. It's just a tactic they're using to boost sales, create hype and keep people interested in DMC.

There's no saying they have to stick to their word on another DMC title, even if the Special Edition sells like crazy. The whole concept is built on false hope.
Demi-fiend

I honestly don't think so. If they go back on their word now, then that would more or less be the end for them seeing as how fans would start a large mass boycott over lying.

If Capcom ignores us after THIS, then yes I would support negative action. As it stands right now however, it's all fair game. Besides, if the fans were REALLY outraged, DMC4SE wouldn't be selling as well as it is now. It's not that big of a deal.

DMC5 will happen eventially... especially now that the game is selling so well. Did you read my thread on this topic?
