Well, trying to argue with an idiot in the first place serves no purpose since they are not being easy to convince and they will just blabber about the same stupid belief they have. Isn't the one trying to argue with the idiot in the first place an idiot him/herself for even trying?

And also, some people are too stubborn to admit defeat. They could say when they lost an argument and are speechless that they argued with an idiot. But that would make them be idiots themselves since they tried to argue with someone they call themselves an idiot.
