My answer would be:

Cuz I didn't want it.

But I suppose the real question is:

Did you buy it? How much did you pay for it? Do you think it was worth or should you have waited?

I ask this because I have had a game I kinda wish I didn't buy right away. One I particular for me was Injustice: Gods Among Us.....so ya.
 
I haven't bought a game on launch since 2007...I've saved a lot of money and disappointment as a result, and therefore eliminates the burden of day-one buyer's remorse.

And, truth be told, I didn't buy DmC on launch, either...not because of any contempt or disappointment towards the new direction, but mostly because I was pretty much burnt out on the series by the time it was announced. I had fallen out as a fan of the series for years, and just wasn't into it anymore.

Then, a year later, I got the HD Collection for a bargain price, and got into the series again. I saw DmC on sale for $12 on Steam...and I avoided the risk of paying full-price and being disappointed.

...and it was the best $12 I ever spent.

Usually, I'll wait until a game has gone down in price before I buy. Price drops happen pretty fast anyway, and I'm not in a huge rush to play a game on first day launch.

Having said that, I bought DmC on launch because I wanted to and thought I should give it a try, even if my initial reaction was 'what have they done to Dante?!'. But the more I saw of the game, the more I wanted to play it. For me, it wasn't money wasted, but that's because I liked the game.

The only other game I bought first day launch was Bioshock Infinite, again, because I liked what I saw and I also really enjoyed playing the other Bioshock games, so I was sure I would like Infinite too.

I am also considering gtting Far Cry 4 on first day launch, maybe as the PS4 bundle package. I really enjoyed Far Cry 3, and hopefully 4 will be just as much fun. I relly like what they're showing in the trailers for it, plus it has Troy Baker as the bad guy....what's not to love about that. :wink:

Bought it about 2-3 months after the launch when I was in college, full price.

There's no such thing as "waste of my money" in my game collection, I simply buy what I liked, and like what I bought.

If I knew it was bad, chances are I won't even get interested in it in the first place.

Funny story, I actually was going to wait on buying DMC3 on launch, because DMC2 still left a lukewarm taste in my mouth, and an even bigger hole in my wallet. But when DMC3 came out, I heard nothing but praise, and how it not only righted the wrongs of 2, but stood as the best game in the series.

So I bought it full-price and played it....

....and I returned it the same day.

The guy at the store, who had seen my buy it literally hours earlier, laughed and was like: "Damn, dude...you must've hated it." I just looked at him with a flat, serious expression, and shook my head.

"You have no idea." :grumpy:

Didn't buy it because it seemed lackluster. I borrowed it from a friend for a short while. I'm glad I didn't buy it, because there wasn't a single moment when I felt drawn in - not a single moment when I actually started loving the gameplay or the cutscenes. The gameplay was a bit slow and too easy sometimes, the control scheme was slightly counterintuitive, it didn't seem to have as much combo potential as DMC4, it had pointless and boring platforming, an assholish and unwitty Dante, and a cliché conspiracy theory story. Hell, even its visual style got old (and painful to the eyes) after a while. The fact that Dante and Vergil had slightly deeper backstories - as nice as that may be - didn't help, considering how awful some of the writing was. And then there's just the fact that it didn't feel like a Devil May Cry game to me. Sure, its gameplay was decent and DMC-like, but the rest... naah. Being a reboot doesn't mean it has to change so many things about DMC, especially not when it changes good things that didn't need changing.

As for games I wish I hadn't bought right away... Resident Evil 6. And maybe Alan Wake.

Then don't talk mess, but criticize it. Criticism and blind hate are totally different things. I don't know if you replied to me, but I just stated my opinion based on some arguments. That's not talking mess. I could go on and on and provide deeper arguments, but I would probably just be called a DmC hater.

bought it at full price on PSN, loved it ever since. Seriously this is one of those games that i love forever (just like the Castlevania Lords of Shadow Trilogy).

I pre ordered it after playing the demo. Because I knew what kind of game it was and watched so much of Capcom Unity's convincing gameplay that I had to have it. I have yet to find a game that allows so much creativity and fluidness in it's combat as DmC, including previous DMCs.

DmC is just going to be one of those hidden gems just like Bayonetta 2.

steam sale, got it for like 8 dollars. Should have waited longer, it was on sale for like 3 for the capcom weekend sale. Ended up not liking the clunky and restrictive combat (blue and red enemies, floors, grapples, and shields, someone needs to be fired for turning this game into simon says) but I gave it a shot any way. Played through it once on all the difficulties, but haven't really felt the need to go back and replay it, never even bothered with vergil's DLC after seeing some gameplay videos of it. Vergils new animations are all really stiff and awkward looking, and I was pretty ****ed that they pigeonholed vergil of all characters into using the same "red light, blue light" grapple system that dante does.

Oh yeah, and I am like 110% done with having the camera zoom dramatically into the main character's angsty glaring face. I get that it's better than having a loading screen, but mix it up a little, jesus christ
