So I decided to play DMC4 again and do DMD mode (a pain in the ass because I gotta play as Nero again and hear Dante's annoying mouth) and I reach the end where Dante gives the wave goodbye, and I realize something. For some this was the last time we see an iconic character. This was the last time we see such a loved character who brought style action and all around badassery to the hack n slash genre. This was the last we'd see of such an up standing fellow who decided to face evil and demonic enemies with a sword and two guns.

This would be the last of Classic Dante...

But for me...this is the last I'd see of Classic Dante...and THIS is what I'm left with?

(You can start Nostalgia's "No" rant right as Dante appears on the first video to see how I feel.)

I mean...really? This is the last memory I'll have of the original Dante? The Dante who use to ooze cool and be witty and stylish all in one go? The Dante that had the iconic style of being a Devil Hunter who didn't give no f*cks about anyone else and did his own thing...

And the last memory I have of him is him hardly helping out a family member, letting said family member be absorbed, allow his own dad's sword to get taken from him THAT easily, Did a stupid **** thrusting dance with a new weapon, and did probably the worst attempt at trying to be funny with a Shakespearean play.

I-I just can't believe this. If fact, I can't accept this garbage and call it a proper way to see Classic Dante off.

I like new Dante and all (more then I do the classic ones for now) but if DMC4 was Capcom's last "HO RAH" for Classic Dante, then I must say they did a lousy job.

Point is; I just hope that if they do an actual DMC5 and it's the last of the original series, please PLEASE do NOT f*ck Dante up, Capcom.

You seem to contradict yourself, here. You liked him not giving any f*cks about anyone, but it bothers you that he barely helped out a family member? :/ Just saying.

In any case, when it comes to DMC4 Dante, I rather liked him. I still found him witty, cool, and enjoyable. I loved the sense of humour despite the direness of the situations. And when it really comes down to it, anything to do with caring about other people was represented subtly. He still helped Nero, while also allowing him to maintain his pride, and do more than half of the work, himself.

All that being said, you're entitled to your opinion. I just thought I'd bring another viewpoint to the table.

DMC4 Dante is the Dante not that we deserve but the one that we needed.

Lol, I see what you did, there. ;)

Heh, it wasn't until after I posted that I realized others had come to the same conclusions I had. I only read the first five or six pages, though.

Long story short: Everyone has a right to their own opinions, and as such we also have the responsibility to respect one another's viewpoints without petty name-calling.

Think of it this way, everybody (and I'm sure this has come up)...

It's better that we don't fight about which Devil May Cry or which Dante is better; didn't you know? That's exactly what the companies wanted. They're like small children, believing negative attention is better than no attention, at all. Personally, I refuse to fight over it. I have in the past, but I won't anymore. :) We're all fans here, no matter which aspect of the series we prefer.

I know this started as a rant, DragonMaster, and that's fine; but I also feel it's fair to point out that when you bare your opinions to others, they'll do the same; there would be no point to these threads, otherwise. ;)

Capcom should put more effort into their characters including Dante. The clothes (must be the pants) Dante had in 4 was horrible.
But i think how Dante behaved in 4 was pretty Dante.

I mean seriously, when you think of Dante what do you think of aside from his appearance and clothes?

I think of a joker who trolls demons
and a guy who has a certain level of compassion for others.

And DMC4 Dante was like that.

When I say not give any f*cks, I mean not care about how cool he looks and actually does the cool things instead. I still don't like that he just stood there, and talked sh*t while Nero was being sucked in.

Trust me, I've heard view points in this thread one too many times. I understand how others feel about him, but that doesn't change the fact that he could've been done better then what DMC4 gave us.

Funny, I'd expect IncarnantDemon to agree while she negates the fact that all she does is put out opinions on DmC like its fact.

to each theor own. i still see anime dante when i hear the name. and he does troll demons but he does it n such a low key way, its cool. i was never a huge fan of the over the top-ness of the world.
and yes, who the hell thought it would be cool to put chaps on dante. like really? but character design aside, since everyone in this world (with the exception of lady and trish) dressed so damn ridiculously. i didn't mind it

I've heard all the arguments before, as well. I get where you're coming from; it gets tiring, after awhile.

Hmm...that particular fact isn't so much a fact at all, but a subjective statement. Maybe they could have done better, maybe they couldn't. It all depends on who you're talking to, wouldn't you say? ;)

Regardless, I'm not here to pick apart your opinion; just to point out that by expressing it publicly, it was bound to receive replies from everyone from all parts of the Devil May Cry spectrum. I have no interest in trying to change your mind; I just felt like weighing in on the conversation.

ACTUALLY... It's not the last time we got to see the original Dante or atleast it is in an actual DMC game. Ever heard of the game Project X Zone? It's lots of characters put together in a turn based RPG and DMC1 Dante is in it along with Lady. I really loved playing that game and I was sad to know afterwards I'd return to the DmC Dante. I do hope they make a DMC5 though, and I hope they return our favorite Dante to us in an actual Devil May Cry game that we will enjoy and laugh about with all the funny wisecracking jokes.

Makes me wonder what other fanbases are like right now?

Probably not much different from this one. I've spent a fair bit of my time on forum-based sites over the years; discussions like this are pretty typical (you should see what it's like in band fan-bases...in short, a cluster f*ck). :p

Even though i despise NT and Tameem, i blame capcom, Keji Inafune and the fat asses who say they are game "journalists".
Inafune contributed to reboot happening, capcom went with it, and the clowns of Gaming community kept the fire of hate going.

You wouldn't be talking about Jim Sterling, would you?

And shame on you for fat shaming other people (whether game journalists or not). Not everyone has their own personal trainer, you know.
Go ahead...

... Say something else about the "fatasses".

Fat ass is whether you like it or not a way to insult morons. Boogie is awesome and his weight has no influence on how i perceive him as a person.
And yes Jim Sterling and other idiots, fat or not.

Its weird its like everyone can be blamed when you think about it.

Inafune: The one who recommended it

Capcom: The one who went with it and well the one's who shaped the project (from picking NT and Dante's redesign as well as the westernization/casualization) that displeased he fanbase

Fans (antis): Ones who made the situation worst and were out to destroy rather than understand

NT (mainly...no only Tameem): Whose reactions weren't as well received as he would like them to be

Fans (pros): Who decided to fight back and only turned it into a war

Journalists: Who only just added fuel to the fire, some by actually attacking the fans, and doing the one thing you don't want to do as a professional journalist...PICK A SIDE. Some journalists were against and some were for the reboot but they both made the mistake of picking a side and allowed their bias to show making it hard to take it seriously. Especially when you have journalists going out blaming DMC fans for why DmC sold bad despite them saying "if you don't like it don't buy it". Good thing people like Joe and Max went the neutral route and just reported what they knew and what they saw and their reactions rather than what they feel although Joe really wanted to go against the reboot.

Its mainly the journalists fault but Capcom could've communicated better to make fans understand....well Itsuno tried but he went on def ears when compared to all the negativity in the media of the game. In fact Capcom and NT did try to ease the situation but people only looked at the bad parts of the PR. I guess they should've tried harder. I can't blame Tameem since everything he said was at the heat of the moment and obviously didn't plan to say that stuff since he never planned for those questions......be funny if he did. The fact that Tameem apologized later at least shows he did care how his actions negatively affected people sensitive to the situation shows if he knew his words would've upset people he probably wouldn't have said them. My problem was why he didn't say it sooner like well before the game came out and rather than after. Also, why shut down his twitter when the game came out wouldn't it have been more beneficial to keep it up even after the game was up so people to look to him for some questions or guidance or well feedback that they were doing since before the game came out.

Now I think of it why did they shut down their forums?
