Okay its pretty self explanatory but which would sell more....say the next DMC game would come out in the next console gen (minus any chance of it being an exclusive or the Xbox One being well........)...which has the higher chance of succeeding in terms of sales, general reception, popularity, etc?

Obviously DMC5.

DmC made fans cry foul (for idiotic reasons as well) and they begged for DMC again. I think Capcom also made this their plan. People complained about DMC4 being a romance sloppy game in terms of story and a few people actually hated Nero and this version of Dante. so when DmC came about, fans cried like little demon bitches for DMC and if Capcom makes a DMC5, fans will be grateful to capcom and sink right back into their corporate hands with no issues at all.

So yeah, DMC5 will make more money, but for the most pathetic reason.

Either way both won't sell as much as DMC4 (most likely) but a DMC5 has a higher success rate if its actually good...nah you won't be able to tell a game is good unless you played it or seen other reviews. It has a high success rate if its visually appealing and visual promising (this also applies to DmC2 as well).

Either go for visual entertainment (similar to MGR) to appeal to well the action crowd or a more modest approach showcasing the game's uniqueness (gameplay mechanics, combat, any interesting features).

At the end of the day its down to marketing and its not about a lot of marketing but more smart marketing you can skillfully market a product (a game) without pouring tons of money to just market it a lot.

By that I mean DMC games have always failed to properly market their games (they just show quick snips of gameplay with some cutscenes in there...DMC4 and DmC). I think DMC3 had a smart thing showing off the advance combat side of the gameplay....it just needed something extra.

its about marketing. If DmC2 is marketed like DmC was, then the game will bomb. but thats for either game. If DMC5 was to be marketed as DMC3 and the result proves otherwise, then its gonna be DmC all over again.

Well I'm referring to how they advertise it as long as no one says anything or does anything stupid in the PR (Tameem) I think both may have a chance of success.

Obviously DMC5.
That, and DmC2. I'm on even ground with both selling as good as each other. That way, the division of the fanbase would become whole once again.

And we have become a part of these 'idiotic' fanbases with so-called 'tastes'! I can only facepalm and feel disgusted to be part of such a fanbase!

And that pathetic reason is that DMC5 will be a DMC4 rehash, which is what I am fearing! Yes; let's kill the series through repetition all for the sake of the almighty dollar! And that is what Capcom's mind says.
And if that is so, then I'll put this in my DMC5 review subtitle: "Lazy Ass Capcom Redoing DMC4!" and my score of it will be between 1/5 to 2/5!

Might as well call it "DMC (It's really just DMC4 again with the same moves we've been rehashing using in DMC3's mechanics, but you wouldn't notice because you're too busy kissing our feet for giving you another DMC) 5.

Though, haven't played DmC yet, I think DMC5 has a better chance of getting more success than its competitor because many people (both pro-DmC and definitely anti-DmC) would go for DMC whereas DmC2 would not get the love from both the sides.

With all that said, I ask you a question. Does number of sales really matter that much? I mean, you'll still enjoy the game regardless of the sales number!

I think that the purpose of gathering our opinions on this is to have one idea of what game Capcom would do next (if they do), seeing their money grubbing habits and all. The attempt to reboot DMC was already a try to make the series reach a broadier audience and make more money for them even taking a big risk, that's even why they casualized it and made the game more story-driven than before.

Oh yes!! Our very own "beloved" Capcom.

Tell you what, you're damn right. I wouldn't be slightly surprised even if they go ahead n reboot DmC as well!

Depends. If they market DmC as a game more for casual gamers, then that would probably sell better just because it's a bigger market. However, they'd have to make sure DmC 2 is a really high quality product. Anyone looking at DmC can tell it has shoddy frames per second, texture pop-ins, and washed out graphics. It's also glitchy as hell. Since DmC/DMC doesn't have a massive fan base, if you want either game to sell outside of the established fan base, you need to make sure the game is really polished and has amazing marketing.

That said, If Devil May Cry 5 and DmC 2 have about the same amount of quality as their previous game, then DMC5 will sell better.
