After reading Vezilds thread, I remembered that Ninja Theory were trying to update this with more modern movies, and stuff, and really I don't know what to say besides screw that.
First of all, let me point out something, the only modern media I like is Friendship is Magic (one of the best shows ever) and maybe some Godzilla movies, other than that ninety percent of it sucks. Really in modern day media, they avoid fights and explain the antagonist origins, by having the protagonist run away, and that is what I have seen Dante do so far in the new trailers, he appears to be running away from the demons, and don't give me that, "they're trying to take him to limbo" crap, I mean its just limbo, man up, I'm going to be sent to Circle 7 (Violence, the damn robo-monkeys didn't see what hit em.) and I cannot wait, and when I say this is pretty much the problem with 2000s movies I mean it
Look at AVP:R (the highly dissapointing sequel to Alien Vs Predator)
in AVP:R, 90% of the movie is the humans running away from the Aliens and the Predator like a pack of whimps , and they waste 90% of the ammo trying to take down the predator (none of which effected him because he is a badass)
In the original Predator, we saw explosions, gunfire, and soldiers dying, before the Predator even showed up, in fact it was the same with Predator 2, both movies had firefights take place which attracted the Predator in. Back to Predator 1, it was mere minutes after the Predator appeared that Dutch (Arnold Swcharzennegger) was like " F*ck it, we saw it bleed, I'm sick of running, lets kill this bastard"
and a good bit of modern day movies are just TERRIBLE remakes of classic movies, like the upcoming Robocop remake (A movie that did not need to be remade, and the original will be better both story wise and it was more violent)
In fact the only modern day actor I enjoy is Ryan Reynolds, and that is because he is going to play Deadpool in the upcoming Deadpool movie, which he requested stay true to the comics.
Plus modern day also tries to implement factors into action movies , that shouldn't be in action movies, like implementing drama. I Don't wanna see Stallone tell his wife goodbye in Rambo, I like to see him do that in Rocky, but I watch Rambo to see him blow crap up.
The more you know : Modern day gave us Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, the 80s gave us Guns N Roses and AC/DC
So I feel all and all, why would we need an update? It seems to me like its a blessing to love the original more
