Actually, I think you have it the other way around. Bionic prosthetics have been in research and development for years. The most primitive ones became available around the 70's, I think. Those designs and concepts have mostly been showcased with children, I'm assuming because if you show adults rich people's sympathy won't be as big and their donations will reflect that. Whatever the case, the DB aren't that practical for everyday use and the ones being developed by researchers look like they're design with everyday use in mind and they look more practical than the DBs. Yeah, everyone wants to do the rocket punch but are you really going to risk a projectile in your household over simple functionality?
