Will Dante keep his old Devil arms in future games?

If DMC is any indication, he wont keep anything in the next game except rebellion (I personally hate that Dante has this "default" weapon, much prefer the weapon acquisitions in DMC1). Not sure why, seeing as they could keep their movesets and animation from previous weapons. What do you think?

Technically, we can't call these "Devil Arms" since we don't know that they are. They're just weapons.

But, Dante would probably keep them, as the weapons aren't really their own weapons so much as they are different forms that Rebellion takes. He can't get rid of one of those weapons without getting rid of all of them :p

According to the Bingo's writing from DMC4, Dante usually sells off the Devil Arms he finds in each game to help pay off his massive debt :p

Perhaps he will shelve rebellion or not use it and instead use............... ALASTOR! I know he has the symbol on his back and all but he could just not use it until the final boss. Maybe the antagonist will rip the symbol off his back at the beginning of the game.

I think it'd be retty easy to explain that the weapons are simply a part of him and that any new weapons he gets in a sequel he would use them instead. It also fits this DmC in with the traditional idea that by DMC2 Dante is just too powerful for his own good....like nothing can even touch him at that point (which is probably why, the game is so easy lol). Amassing different weapons over time to become a part of him would effectively make him stronger and give him new DTs and whatnot.

There are a lot of directions it can be taken but easily explained.

My bets will go into that Rebellion, Osiris and Arbiter will be available from start. Aquila and Eryx may or may not even appear at all, but if they do, they'd to be reacquired again or simply appear as the same weapon with a different name/shape (a la Ifrit/Beowulf/Gilgamesh).

An idea how they could get rid of old weapons for new within story; defeating boss demons in the next game causes his current weaponry to change or reconfigure into "more powerful" weapons.

i think (hope) you have the chains, arbiter and osiris (or at least can unlock them via challenges) along with the default

Wouldn't this be Ninja Theory's first sequel? I wonder if it would be tough for them to iterate on the game, since they're used to moving onto something new. In fact, they probably will make another game before a DmC 2 comes around.

Who knows, who knows if the next game will take place exactly after the last one.You really can't be sure with DMC games, but whatever happens I'm thinking not, because of the gameplay, they would most likely switch those to different weapons with similar moves.

This is all, of course, assuming there will be a DmC 2 at all, of which right now we have no word on.

They could just have it so that the weapons "evolve" because of story related reasons or because of experience/upgrade points. DmC Rebellion had concept art of a devil side and angel side cross guard, similar to DMC Rebellion's human skull side and demonic/horned skull side cross guard. Ninja Theory probably wanted Dante and his weapons/powers to evolve a bit more but was cut by time, technology, etc. Heck, there were Devil Trigger transition concept art of Dante progressively becoming more and more demonic with his Devil Trigger and having Angel/Demon mode being more pronounced with each stage. But alas, time and technology may have prevented them from implementing this; all we got were flashing eyes near his portrait and symbol on his back.

If anything, Rebellion could form a new cross guard. Eryx could form greaves or become claws, two bucklers, be able to project the flame fists always/more often. Aquilla could have more copies of itself while thrown, split into dual blades, be used more like chakrams (physically attacking and not throwing), or whatever else that could happen. The Arbiter could shrink and split into two axes, have the blade of the axe constantly spinning so during impact it will hit multiple times, allow Dante to emit phantoms more often for multiple hits, morph between a mace, warhammer, or flail. Osiris could similarly split into two kama-tonfa-like weapons, gain a blade at the end, have a more flexible blade and can switch between a halberd/spear or scythe, chains attached to them while splitting into two, become a kusarigama, allow him to use wind related abilities (explain to me the weird tornadoes that pop up during Rake and and Raze), or whatever else.

These evolutions could just lead to different weapons besides ones from gained by new bosses.
