The Legendary Dark Knight is quite obviously Sparda.

1. His DT form is the form you saw Sparda as in the story of him.

2. If you Google Sparda on images, you get pics of him in the same human form you saw him in in DMC.

3. When playing in LDK mode, save files are indicated by Sparda's demon form. It's just that Sparda is very similar to Dante even for a dad. As for Dante's resemblences to his mum, Eva - I have no idea other than that his new "mentor" Trish looks and has a voice exactly like her.

4. The mode is called LEGENDARY DARK KNIGHT. It's SPARDA who's the LDK, not his son. Nobody knows about Dante except the bosses and the only resemblence Dante has to being LDK is at the end when Trish calls him the LDK.

5. Even in his human form, Sparda's shadow is of his demon form.

Vergil can kill Beowulf but his soul maintain in Demon World
