I think that Resident evil is better than Dmc as its is more puzzling and tougher than Dmc.

A Very good Game is Alone in The dark

The games can't be compared. They are two different genres. Resident Evil is a survival horror type of game. Devil May Cry is a hack-and-slash action type of game. They have different methodologies. So this comparison doesn't stand at all.

You really can't say that Resident Evil is better than DMC or vice versa because, as Dante stated, they're two entirely seperate genre, sure, they're both great games, but I don't really think that looking at it, you could really compare two different genres with each other in terms of how good they are.

It's like saying that Bioshock beats Guitar Hero hands down, you can't really back that up because there are no similarities in the gameplay elements.

They're both great games, but I can't say which is better.

Resident Evil has a game mentality focusing on evading large scale enemies and saving ammo for boss fights. You need to take care of the health and such.

Devil May Cry focuses on battling massive groups of enemies, evading their attacks and in the same time, maintaining a stylish action. Ammo is infinite, and you have to worry for health, I doubt you do, but anyways.

^ I agree, im in love with both games. Hmmmm, Resi has been around longer, and it's even responsible for the birth of DMC. Lets put it this way, with me, Resi and DMC is like the Sparda twins. Dante is Resident Evil, he came along first and has been around longer and has more games. Vergil is DMC who doesn't have as much games but yet he easily catures the hearts of gaming fans in the first game and over a short amount of time, is easily up there in Dante's rank of badassery. Sometimes I love one more than the other, but in the end, I just can't choose.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone. ^^

what an asshole question! not because its daft or anything but because its so hard to decide, but i think that Resi wins it for me the original game was one of my faves of all time with the setting, storyline, and (hopefully intentionally) bad voice acting, just the intro sequence on the original resi brings many smiles to my face and i must know almost every line of dialogue in that game just for how hilariously bad it is.

and Resi 4 is one of the best games ever made i cant wait for number 5!

^Seriously, Christopher is gonna rock the house in part 5. I don't see how some people can be so bitter about the changes made in part 4. It was SO for the better.

Some people say that it's no different from disliking Nero, but it's totaly different.

Hahaha, nice one.:P

Pros

Resi 4 is brilliant, the enemies are all charismatic and diverse, the weapon system is intuitive and well planned out, interactive cuscenes are cool and let us not forget that Leon out and out rocks as a protagonist.

Devil May Cry (at least the first one) I would argue is harder than all the resi games put together on the hardest boss battle (mundus 2) on Dante Must Die mode, the stylish, acrobatic, high octane action is invigourating beyond anything else in the videogaming world. Killer lines, cool cuscenes (albeit none interactive) and the coolest hero to ever surface from a capcom game show that DMC holds its own against its predecessor.

Cons

With resi: The movement system.

With DMC: The camera.

That's about it.

Both ultra cool games, it's impossible to call one better without sounding a tad daft.
