For me, 3 will always have the best soundtrack. Especially with the main theme which was just badass!

I'd put DMC4 second on the list, but i don't know what to make of the soundtrack. The actual music is great with the adrenaline pumping sound, but imo they went overboard with the annoying demonic voices in the songs.

Btw, Blackened Angel Lock & Load or the original?

Devil May Cry 3 has the best score, and some of my favorite tracks are...

Cerberus Battle - vocals by Shawn McPherson
Agni & Rudra Battle
Vergil Battle 1
Nevan Battle
Beowulf Battle - vocals by Shawn McPherson
Geryon Battle
Vergil Battle 2
Battle Music 2 (Divine Hate) - vocals by Shawn McPherson
Lady Battle
Doppelganger Battle
Stage Music 9 (Demon World)
Vergil Battle 3
Devils Never Cry (Staff Roll) - vocals by Shawn McPherson and David Baker
Loop Demo Movie (Devils Never Cry + Divine Hate Mix)

From Devil May Cry 4...

Blackened Angel (Dante Battle 1) - vocals by Shawn McPherson
The Time Has Come - vocals by Jason Arnold
Sworn Through Swords (Berial Battle) - vocals by Shawn McPherson
Baroque and Beats (Bianco Angelo)
Temptation
Swipe of Sword (Credo Battle)
Forza del Destino (Dante Battle 2) - vocals by Shawn McPherson
Chorus in the Darkness (Sanctus Battle)
The Idol of Time and Space
Lock and Load (Blackened Angel Mix) - vocals by Shawn McPherson
Power of Destroyer (Savior Battle)
Power of Destroyer (Limit Break Mix)
Shall Never Surrender (Credits) - vocals by Jason Arnold

Shawn McPherson is also known as Shootie HG, vocalist of the Hostile Groove band.

Jason Arnold is also known as ShyBoy.

DMC2 and DMC1 had a couple of tracks but DMC3 and DMC4 had the best ones IMO.

I wasn't fond of how they started adding lyrics to the battle music in the later games but I have to admit DMC3 had some of the best music in the series even some of the ones with lyrics.
They were all good really I don't have any major problems with the music just that one little gripe about how the growling can often get a bit repetitive.

I hate the lyrics in these songs with a passion. If the songs had no lyrics, they'd be much better to listen to. Which means I like the original Lock N' Load better. Even though it had some lyrics, they didn't get in the way of the song.

then 2 and 4 tied, 'cuz i can't decide.

I liked the music in the first one because as far I was aware at the time the game came out it was new and different - it really added the 'coolness' factor to the game if you knwo what I mean. ^_^

Exactly! In DMC3 a lot of the songs had lyrics, like Devils Never Cry, Cerberus battle theme and the main battle theme. I didn't mind though because at least they went ok with the music. In the latest game the voices are just nonsensical and almost ruin an otherwise great tune. What i think anyway.
