From my understanding they're like rogue pieces of software which break into sites and cram in a load of spam before buggering off again.

(And that's in technical terms:lol

Anyway, any harm they have done to the site so far is utterly benign. Let's just hope the floodgates stay intact as it were.

They can do, yeah...we had a recent spate of porn bots hacking the projectego forums which was beyond obscene...literally the most vile thing I have ever seen. But we've managed to combat it for now, for the most part.

Phantarch's definition is pretty much on the nail...and spammers are the bane of any forum owner's life, sadly...

Well someone helped me a little and what I learned is kinda hard to explain but yeah it was hilarious!


When we heard someone comeing we killed the power in that room we were in, that means the computer went too!
When they came in we snuck past them!

You can get paid to be a professional hacker for software companies who want to ensure that their products are safe from the majority of illegal hackers out there - my cousin does it for a living and does pretty well for himself out of it too. Need a degree in something insanely complicated to be eligible for such a position but for those aspiring hackers out there, its a legit way of getting your kicks...
