What would have been better references to the original series?

After seeing the
"I'm more motivated" photoshop, it made me wonder, what COULD have been great throwbacks to the original series. Because in the actual game, we had:
Achievement names that would make no sense to someone new to the series and a slap to the face towards original fans.

But what if Dante said, "Don't talk, just die." to Bob Barbas?

What if during Devil's Daliance, Dante said, "Pop music? Couldn't they have played 'Taste the Blood' or something?"

What if the moment you got a SSSensational combo against a boss, Dante would say "This parties getting crazy!", and that line would be voiced by Reuben Langdon, similar to how Frank West's FANTASTIC, was voiced by a different person in the original Dead Rising.

OPINION TIME!

In the end, Capcom literally showed they didn't care about the original fanbase. They cared about our wallets. Despite this being a SSStylish game, and Ninja Theory's grand achievement, NT could have at least shown respect for the franchise they were rebooting, and invited Reuben Langdon, Drew Coombs, and Matthew Kaminsky for their respected cameos.

Capcom didn't care about the fanbase, and NT thought their Dante was better. These were the 2 factors that kept us from getting decent throwbacks and a decent nostalgia factor.

Since I already made up an awesome scenario for a Reuben Langdon voice in the game,

What would Drew Coombs do?

I was actually kind of glad they didn't put in too many references to the original series. I think too many references would have taken us out of the experience, plus I think they wanted to start fresh, not just piggy back on the originals.
But, since you asked, I would have wanted a reference to "I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with LIIIIIIGHT!" Not repeat that exact line, but do some type of parody to it :)

For killing Bob, Dante could have used the line DMC4 Dante used when killing Agnus. ' If you're going to continue your research in the next world...' Then have Dante shoot a hole in Bob's news papers' Do your homework first..' Then shoot Bob through the paper hole, and finish witht he line ' And the rest is silence'.

I figured that because Bob somehow reminds me of Agnus, plus Bob never did his research when making news stories. They were all lies. It would be fitting for Dante to shoot him through his own news report papers.

"wet chunks"

I laughed.

I don't think the game necessarily needed to be weighed down with the prior canon, but I do think that the throwbacks/insults could have been handled with some actual love instead of spite.

How about when Dante gets the wig on his head, he smirks and says, "Hey, not bad. What do you think?" and the Hunter Demon roars so loud it flies off, causing Dante to reply, "Yeah, it's not for me.". Instead of a morbidly obese man<that Dante smacks the Virility away from>, they could have had a kid with a cap with "5" on it mourning at a grave, and Dante gives him a slap on the shoulder and say, "Hey, it gets better. Trust me.".

You just know that if DMC5 ever gets made (Which is pretty unlikely), they'll probably include a scene where Actual Dante gets a black wig, and a conversation like this happens with Trish:

Bob reminded me of a much older Skrillex...but Bob is prettier.
As for references, since it's a parallel world: In the introduction scene, instead of him throwing the bottle at the mirror when a demon shows up. Have DMC4 Dante looking back at him, DmC Dante then admires himself like DMC4 Dante would...then he shakes his head thinking it's a trick of Limbo.

Dante looking at chaps for sale and saying "No way I'm buying those ugly ass things. Only rodeo clowns would wear those."

You wanna mess with Classic Dante's outfits? Talk about this:

Really?

*Dante looks at the onsale chaps.*

"Phbbt, never gonna find me wearing those things."

*2 missions before the game is done, Dante catches a glimpse of a reflection of himself off his rebellionsword, wearing chaps he didn't know he was wearing, how they got on him, or when he acquired them.*

"........................................Of course."

*Wig from DmC flies in and clamps down on his head.*

"GODDAMNIT MY HAIR IS ****IN' WHITE ALREADY!!"

Yes, but it's funnier this way.

Also, Dante should have said after his wild night, "That was a crazy party"
