If Vergil didn't not kill him, Dante will kill him eventually in the future. He is a demon hunter.
The baby is offensive, not a good kind.

That's a terrible analogy. A serial murderer's baby is still human so human ethics and law apply to it.
A demons baby is a horrific hellspawn. It has no feelings, no emotions, and wants to kill Dante under Lilith's orders.
If Vergil didn't shoot Lilith his plan to take over the world would have never succeeded, because Mundus' spawn would've fought with Vergil anyway.

I didn't mean that... What i mean was, he is an asshole almost the entire game. But still he is badass. (Only in Vergil's Downfall)
