Vergil romance.

Hello I am new on this forum, and I just thought of something recently. How do you guys think about a Vergil romance?? Are you for or aganist it?? I don't thin Capcom would go down that road with Vergil. Do you think it would go aganist his charcter? I am curious about our peoples thoughts and options on the subject. Please no hate. Give it about 20 years from the date DMC4SE released and for Capcom to remember to care. That's the best bet considering it took almost this long for any in-game elaboration on a) Eva's presence and how the twins lost her, and b) anything to do with Nell. And even then they messed that up.

I personally wouldn't count Nero's mum as a romance option. I think there relationship was just a fling. I don't think they loved each other. But that is just my opinion though, others might disagree with me. Vergil wa to busy looking for power to care or a romantic relationship.

Apparently Dante disagrees with you. I've read that Dante believes whoever she was Vergil had a genuine attachment for her.

Right now Vergil's relationship with Nero's mom is a blank slate. So it can be any number of possible stories.

It's not essential but I just chose Vergil's relationship with Nero's mom as an easier selling point to the audience. It's an existing mystery people might be curious about.

I'm not against romance in DMC, I'm just skeptical of their ability to pull it off. How they handled Nero and Kyrie in 4 didn't inspire much confidence.

they never intended for it to be romantic,the intention was for her to be a one night stand,that Vergil has indulged in because he was "young" once too...
thats what i got from an interview Dan (Vergil's VA) did,he didnt like that the original line suggested that Vergil was "just throwing it away" like Dante,and he was happy that the line we heard in the game is what they went with in the end. am guessing its because its more vague,so it leaves things open to explore in the future,cause Dan definitely seem to want it be a love story lol.

so thats how it is really.......for now she is unimportant,the creators never gave her any thought and it shows....though that could change if Itsuno or whoever ends up handling Devil may cry decides differently in the future (i mean they are not new to retconning things lol)

cause the way i see it,the dmc 3 Vergil we got,didnt seem like a person who had someone he cared about........when he threw himself in hell in the end,it seemed like he had nothing for him in the human world and that hell is where he belonged,caused at least it was his father's home. besides Vergil is a very closed off person,and for someone to be able to melt that ice around his heart,i assume he'd have to spend a significant amount of time with them to fall in love,otherwise it just seems silly to me......and i dont think he spent that much time in Fortuna,so....

Given a good treatment, Nero's mom would be the ideal choice. She must have meant something to Vergil given how uncaring and selfish he is. But the problem is avoiding making her defined by the "she is Nero's mom". Would be best to first introduce her without Vergil around, and also have her be something more than a simple human (demon, angel, witch, something that catched Vergil's eyes) to help her build her character. Then have Vergil meet her later, recognize her, and maybe even have him her identity a secret because Nero doesn't need his true parents anymore. He has his own family and can take care of himself. It would fit Vergil to think Nero is better off without him or his mom.

A romance with Vergil would be a good opportunity to make him evolve, but it will take time with a complete stranger. Nero's mom would skip that, and she could have an unusual relationship with Vergil which could explain why he never talked about it before.

A love interest that is a playable character could be a fun way to tell a love story in DMC.

It's not essential but that tends to work better in gaming.

Capcom did it indirectly with DMC5, just as they explored Vergil's humanity indirectly by showing it in the form of V, so that it doesn't mean that the Vergil we know is necessarily seen doing those things and subverting expectations of the fans. Which is a clever trick, imo. They humanized Vergil without actually compromising him.

But I don't think Capcom will go down the road of showing any more of that. They leave a lot out and you always have to read between lines with Devil May Cry.

you should ask him on Twitter. Most actors tend to create their own backstory for the characters they portray. So he probably has some thoughts on how that should play out.

Tbh, I never got the impression Nero's mom was important to Vergil personally, the way he reacted to Dante bringing her up seemed to imply that he barely remembed her and was confused about the whole deal. Also he never spared a line or thought on her, even in Vision of V, which explores Vergil's trauma and most defining moments in depth (like Eva's death).

To be honest, I'm glad this is the case too, cause it wouldn't make sense for 3 Vergil to get attached to anyone, since he was all about power and even pushed away Dante, a person he cared about, as a result of it (and partially to protect him, as it was stated that in the end of 3, Vergil didn't want Dante to get stuck into the demonic world, and wanted him to live as a human), he's supposedly didn't spend much time in Fortuna, and given his trauma and the way he views humanity as a weakness, it'd make no sense for him to open up to another human being ever as quickly. It would contradict his character for him to imo.

Also, DMC attempt at romance hasn't be the best so far, so I wouldn't really trust them to pull something like this without damaging Vergil's character tbh.

Check this one out. This is an example of what a relationship was suppose to be like in the DMC series. If they recruit writers who excell at seinen/18+.

Vergil dating Nyotengu from Dead or Alive would be pretty fun. She's more hedonistic but she's royalty and older than most of the cast. So you could play up the latter and make her wise. Vergil's wound up tight so he needs someone that can get him to open up.
