Veggies/ vegans

I tried, I did, for years being a veggie (tried being a vegan too but could only stand it for 3 months) but alas, last month I finally went back to being a carnivore. I never actually missed eating meat in those 10+ years and don't know what came over me to turn back to meat. I do know that some of the reciepes that I tried in a vegan cookbook almost made me vomit (particularly a certain chocolate cake that I made that turned out to be the most vile thing I've eaten in my life so far.)

Anyone here a veggie/vegan?

it isn' good for your body to just eat Vagetable! I don't like meat really... but I eat it in some foods(alittle)... beacause my body need it!but if you like it I don't think it's a good way to become a veggie! :D I think you can just eat it less! ;)
ps: that was just my opinion! ;)

Being just a carnivore or a vegeterian is really bad for your body at our ages.Maybe when you are older[70+] you might have to become a vegeterian but before that you only harm your body and stop it's growth.Humans are omnivores so we should eat everything[by that I mean both vegies and meat...and the rest we consume].

Trouble with being a vegan (more than a veggie imo) is that you really have to make sure you balance your diet out and make sure you take some vitamins to replace what your body isn't getting with that you would be getting when being a carnivore/veggie. I found that I had to make a lot of the meals if I wanted something filling (and not just for me either; I live with a veggie so it became double work) and I really didn't have the time to do so.

I am not overly fond of red meat, and when I was a child I hated any kind of flesh. Fish was okay, but I was intolerant of red meat and white meat or eggs (blargh!), which left me eating a largely vegetarian diet, and it was easier to just introduce myself to people as a vegetarian (even though I wasn't), rather than go through a list of things I would and wouldn't be happy to eat.

These days I can stomach a bit of red meat occasionally but to be honest I still don't like it. The taste of it makes me think of the pain I got from eating it when I was younger, and I just don't think it tastes nice at all unless heavily disguised with herbs and other flavours. I still can't stand eggs looking or tasting like eggs; I have an aversion to them to rival Hitch****'s. But I eat a LOT of fresh fish. And chicken. A few times a week on average. I could be happily vegan as long as I could make food that wasn't boring and had the ingredients available to do it. I would have to take iron and calcium and other general supplements though, as I've discovered my body needs a lot of both of those.

I have a vegan friend who says his diet is amazing for staying willow-thin. I'd do it for my own general health - but instead I'm trying the 'eat once a day' thing instead for now. I'm sure I'll give it a go someday.

Any kind of meat will do.Even white meat.As long as you get proteins and iron from meat you will be much better than getting from those pills. Also even though I hate fish[DEAD ON HATRED] I still eat becuase of the phosphorus it has.

 No wonder he's saying that, he's hardly eating much that would put any weight on! I know I lost some weight in that 3 months of trying it out.

He is very concerned about staying thin. But to be honest a diet with a lack of animal fats in it sounds good in many ways. I always prefer vegetable fats to animal used in any of my cooking.

I've tried a lot of different diets to see how they go and in a no-meat diet I always end up craving it, same as in an all-meat (or all-fish) diet you soon start feeling you would gladly die for a slice of bread! I just try these days to eat in moderation, not to go to extremes, but just to eat less in general.

My cousin usually goes on a diet of about 85% Vegetables/Fruits etc. Things of that nature and the other 15% being meats, but nothing containing too much fat.

I personally have never tried to be a veggie, because my metabolism is apparently too good for its own..well..good  Besides, I couldn't imagine no meat D:

i'm not a veggie or a vegan. i respect the ideals behind it, and those who choose to follow that path, but because of both my personal preferences and some overly zealous vegans i've encountered i'd rather not. it's pretty much my feelings about PETA in summation. i respect the ideals, and support the cause, but they are way too insane extremist for me. some of their methods are borderline insane. for that reason i couldn't see myself at one of their rallies either. oh yeah, there's also one other thing.

I didn't know vegetarian and vegan was two different things. I thought it was all slang words that meant the same: vegetarian.

I'm half vegetarian, not because I want to be vegetarian, I just can't be bothered with cooking dinner. For the most part I eat sandwiches, I often put ham or other meat on them but I consume very little meat during an average week.

I always assumed a vegetarian was a person who didn't eat meat (for whichever reason) but was still eating eggs or drinking milk or happy to use other animal products that aren't meat... honey, butter, etc. If you're vegan you basically have to switch to specialist vegan foods if you still want to eat biscuits or cakes or processed products, since everything is still for the most part made with animal ones.

I still think of a vegetarian as being like this, as the vegans I know tend to make more of a point about their eating habit, that they eat absolutely no animal products.

It must be very very difficult to be a vegan. I don't think I would last for more than... 8 hours.
